Quairading abounds with volunteers across many aspects of our vibrant community and our very own local legend Greg ‘Bounce’ Richards has been named Volunteer of the Year for the WA Football Midlands Region. 🥳

Midlands is made up of 25 clubs across four leagues - Avon, Mortlock, Central Midlands and North Midlands.

Read all about it below.

🏆 Midlands Region Volunteer of the Year – Greg ‘Bounce’ Richards🏆

Country Football WA congratulates Greg ‘Bounce’ Richards from the Quairading Football & Netball Club on being named the 2026 Midlands Region Volunteer of the Year!

For more than 40 years, Bounce has been the life and soul of the Quairading Football & Netball Club, serving as Head Trainer and continuing to fulfil the role week after week.

His remarkable contribution extends well beyond Quairading. Bounce also spent 23 years as Head Trainer for the Football & Netball Association, served two years as a trainer for the WA Country State Team and contributed four years as an Avon Football & Netball Association Director.

Throughout more than four decades of volunteering, Bounce has also taken on numerous committee and volunteer roles, always stepping forward to support his club, league and community.

His extraordinary service has been recognised with Life Membership of both the Quairading Football & Netball Club and, most recently, the Avon Football & Netball Association in 2026.

Thank you, Bounce, for your incredible loyalty, passion and dedication to country football. More than 40 years of service is an outstanding achievement, and this recognition is thoroughly deserved! 👏

"A Tale of Monoliths and the Night Sky on the Granite Way WA"

"Three adventurous women headed into the WA Wheatbelt one weekend to check out rocky outcrops and gaze at stars. With the moon in 'toenail' phase and the Granite Way drive only 2.5 hours from Perth, a road trip was just what their horoscopes predicted!" (shared from We Are Explorers)

Let's put aside the 'toenail phase' phrase for now and focus on what you'll find as you navigate the Granite Way. Whether you're heading out from Quairading, Kellerberrin or Bruce Rock we'd highly recommend spending a night or two at Kwolyin Campground to allow plenty of time to relax as well as explore.

⛰Mt Caroline - Gardner Road
⛰Mt Stirling - Kellerberrin-Yoting Road
⛰Gundaring Rock/Reserve - Glenluce Road
⛰Kokerbin Rock - Circuit & Summit Trail - Trails WA
⛰Coarin Rock - Granite Gardens Walk - Trails WA
⛰Nangeen Hill Nature Reserve - Pantapin North Road

Be sure to look out for Caroline Gap, Mt Stirling Church, Granite Gardens Walk, Black Flanked Wallabies, Kwolyin Hotel site and the smallest bank in Australia.

How many of all of the above have you already ticked off?

Be sure to take a closer look 🔎 when you’re wildflower hunting on the Pathways to Wave Rock

Toapin Weir, Nookaminnie Rock Nature Reserve and Charles Gardner Reserve are all worth a wander in our neighbourhood🤩

DON’T JUST LOOK FOR COLOUR. LOOK CLOSER. 🔎🌼

A Wheatbelt hunt is about more than spotting a patch of yellow or pink.

Look closely and you could discover a Donkey Orchid, Spider Orchid, Fairy Orchid, Triggerplant, Featherflower, Grevillea or tiny native pea flower hiding amongst the bush.

The Pathways to Wave Rock region is home to an incredible variety of native flora, with each area offering something different. And that's what makes the hunt so good — you never quite know what you’ll find.

Today marks the beginning of Keep Australia Beautiful Week! 🌿

KAB Week is all about raising awareness of the small actions we can take every day to help protect our environment and create cleaner, more sustainable communities.

This week, we encourage everyone to consider how they can make a positive difference, whether it's picking up litter, reducing waste, recycling, or getting involved in a local community initiative.

Weekly Wheatbelt weekend road trips highly recommended!

It’s been reported that the WA canola crop area is set to be a record in 2026, so you know what that means.

Stunning yellow views as far as the eye can see - and it’s happening now!
