What’s New in Travel, Where is Everyone Travelling & the Monaro Street Roadworks Update #9

It’s been over 4 weeks since our update, we’ve been occupied with our upcoming The Epic Travel Expo next Saturday, and getting clients away on their holidays
BUT FIRST UP… MONARO STREET
You have to admit it’s looking bloody awesome. We were excited to see the progress and can’t wait to see the finished result. The laying of asphalt at the other end of the street has everyone anticipating the finished work.

The Australian travel stories of the past 4 weeks that may effect you, our clients
Yes, the Middle East remains the biggest complication for Australians travelling to Europe
It continues to affect routing, insurance and traveller confidence. DFAT still has “Do Not Travel” advice for Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Yemen, while Jordan, Oman and Saudi Arabia remain at “Reconsider your need to travel.”
For Australian travellers, the issue isn’t simply “Can I go to Europe?” it’s how you get there, and if you have booked a river cruise, will the rivers be flowing.
Australians are resilient, still traveling, despite the uncertainty, but they’re becoming much more conscious of routing, insurance and flexibility.
Airfares are still very competitive to all parts of the globe, and of course availability is great via the Middle East, and so is the price.
Fiji has become a bit of a talking point introducing its 5% Tourism Services Tax from 1 September.
And just when they announce there’s more more ways to get Australians and visitors around the Pacific, they announced the Canberra to Nadi service will cease in February, talk about a backhanded hit.
Some VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION and FORWARD PLANNING.
From the 14th September our end of the footpaths will be closed, access will be from the other 2 entrances of the RSL building through the arcade to our office.
See the photo below look for the arrows. We’ve no idea how long but will keep you updated.
So, while the footpaths are temporarily closed and the streets may be closed, Queanbeyan’s businesses are very much OPEN — including us!
