This book has been written by Hugh Patrick Carroll about the fires at Mt. Cole, with thanks to a significant grant that Ross applied for on the book crews behalf. Reading the story of our former pet pig Kevin Bacon and his new mate Gary the goat was heart wrenching 😢 💔

What Jane, his new owner went through in having to decide whether to let the animals out or leave locked up to await an unknown fate was horrendous for her 😢

Reading her story again brought back the sadness and terror of that day, waiting to hear if Kev had made it, knowing from photos that the property was engulfed in smoke. We thought the worst.

But wtf Kev you and Gary were just indestructible dudes. Thank God. The house and the animal pens all intact! Miss you long time pig boy 🐖 🩷

Farewelled a lightning visit to Emerald Beach to see Ross's bro Ian (Yaan) and Lisa and beautiful boy Rodney 🐶 their beautiful tropical garden will be partly replaced with a pool next time we get there! 🏊‍♀️ ..then on to Port Macquarie this arvo and a walk to see the artistic breakwall tributes painted on the rocks and a family of dolphins fishing for dinner. 🐬
Thankfully there was a food truck at the caravan park with wood fired pizza for the starving travellers!

Nothing exciting from us in the way of holidays for a while, but a little trip to Coolangatta at the end of August will help the restlessness 🍍 🍍 🌞

Looking back on our trip to the Cook Islands, the islands are abundant with flower varieties and plants growing rampantly, plants that we could only attempt to grow indoors. So jealous of their freely growing hibiscus, frangipani, snake plant🐍 🪴 and all the lush green ones that look sickly as a potted indoor plant in our house in Victoria 🫣 Must be time for a trip to far north Queensland.... 🤔
