A photo looking towards Double Island Point in 1962 before Rainbow Beach was a town it was known as Eight Mile Beach or Mudlo Middle Rock. The little fishing hut was later used by Phil Rogers as a store and now it is a park with the Surf Club next door.

Driving from Noosa North Shore to Double Island Point in 1930 or 31.
I've read Henry paid 12 pounds for the second hand Model T Ford in 1930.

Sitting behind the wheel of the Ford is the owner, Henry Mallett. Pictured from left are: Joe Hooper, Henry Mallett, V. Ross, B. H. Campbell and Naher Buttress.

It’s been one hell of a ride, but it’s time to hand this baby over. Little Parliament is changing hands as we humbly step away from the hospo industry and shift our focus to something a little… well, less. But first, a moment of thanks. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all of your support!

To our valued customers, thank you truly and wholeheartedly. Thanks for choosing us as your regular, recommending us to friends and family, supporting a local business, shopping small, and making the great days great and the tough days bearable.

Thank you to our suppliers for navigating this wild journey with us. Thanks to our better halves, our families, and our friends for helping with Edie, paying staff, doing the banking, baking bread and cakes in the early days, and for putting up with us when we were about to implode.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone on the Little Parliament team over the past five years. There were times when it felt like we were deep in the trenches, but it was made endurable by being surrounded by a bunch of legends. While the team has changed over the years, I truly feel we were blessed with the best—except for the odd spattering of di*****ds, to which I say, be better. Little Parliament wouldn’t be what it is today without its team, so thank you for being part of it.

Although ownership has changed, the business will continue with a very capable and incredible team, led by an amazing young human, so please show your support. And remember to always be kind - Carly and Kosta.

The Original Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club House in the late 1960s
The first Rainbow Beach Surf Club Meeting was held at the Freemasons Hotel in Gympie in June 1965, this meeting established a committee consisting of a chairman, secretary, treasurer and 14 committee members.
The joining fee was set at 1 pound 10. Initial fundraising efforts included the raffle of a suckling pig, and a dance at the Veteran’s Hall. The Widgee Shire Council (now Gympie Regional Council) was a major instigator of the establishment of the Rainbow Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
The club arranged its first bronze medallion course with the help from Noosa Surf Life Saving Club, and during the training the original clubhouse, the old school building at Tamaree, was transported to its existing site.
