Mystery Tour Reveal!

🥁The destination for our August 3 day Mystery Tour can now be revealed! We stayed in Mundubbera and the beautiful North Burnett region.

🍊 On our first day, we travelled through grazing country and orchards to Gayndah, home of the Big Orange. We enjoyed lunch at the Grand Hotel, the ‘oldest pub in the oldest town’ in Qld! After lunch we visited the Gayndah Museum and saw live Australian Lungfish in a tank. We also explored the displays of colonial life and their extensive collection of vintage vehicles. We continued our scenic drive to Mundubbera, self-proclaimed ‘citrus capital of Australia’ but also major producer of table grapes, blueberries and mangoes.

🐂 On day 2 we visited Eidsvold where our first stop was to the Eidsvold Historical Museum, home of several heritage buildings, a mineral and rock collection and an extraordinary collection of historic bottles. We had a lovely country home-style lunch at the museum followed by a visit to the RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre. We learnt about the life of Reginald Murray Williams and his connections to the area. Later that evening we returned to watch a Light and Sound Show telling the story of RM Williams.

🍷Our final day saw us heading for home via Dalby and Toowoomba where we stopped for a delicious lunch at Gip’s Restaurant, located in the gardens of historic Clifford House.

This was a wonderful Mystery tour with a lovely group of travellers! If you would like to travel with Blue Bus Tours in 2026, check out our upcoming tours at the link below. We’d love to welcome you onboard!

🎄K’gari Christmas in July Tour!🐳

We had a whale of a time at K’gari (Fraser Island) for our Christmas in July Blue Bus Tour!

We boarded the barge at River Heads to take us across to Kingfisher Bay Resort where we enjoyed lunch before some free time to enjoy the resort. Dinner was an Asian-fusion buffet followed by the amazing laser light show “Illumina”. 🎆

Next day we explored the famous ‘beauty spots’ of K’gari on a 4WD bus tour including the beautiful Lake McKenzie, Central Station and Wanggoolba Creek, the 75 Mile Beach to visit the Maheno wreck and the incredible Eli Creek. We could certainly see why K’gari means Paradise! 🌳

🎄We enjoyed a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings and tested our Christmas trivia knowledge. 🎁

🛥️Day 3 saw us head out to Hervey Bay with Boat Club Adventure Cruises to see the amazing humpback whales up close. We had a perfect sunny day and saw dozens of whales! 🐳

We then had a bush tucker talk and tasting before some made their way to the Sunset Bar to enjoy the beautiful sunset with a drink in hand. Our final dinner was an Aussie BBQ buffet. 🌅

Our journey back home saw us visit Maryborough where we visited the quirky Cistern Chapel.

What a wonderful tour this was with a lovely group of travellers!

Birdsville Tour

Our trip out to Big Red and Birdsville was a trip to the Big Green! The desert was certainly blooming following all the rain and we were so relieved to find the road open to enable us to reach this spectacular area.

🐑 We travelled via Chinchilla and Mitchell to Quilpie where we enjoyed a tour of this pretty outback town before making our way to Toogunna Plains Farmstay. Our hosts Fiona and Adam provided us wonderful meals and showed us around their property.

🍷We then headed to Birdsville and our accommodation at the famous Birdsville Hotel. We had time to explore the town and bird watch on the Diamantina River before travelling on 4wd buses to Big Red to enjoy sunset on the famous sand dune.

🦖 We then made our way north to Boulia and Winton where we visited the Australian Age of Dinosaurs for a guided tour and then visited the Waltzing Matilda Centre. We then travelled through Longreach to Barcaldine to visit the Australian Workers Heritage Centre and then to Blackall for a visit to the beautifully restored Blackall Historical Woolscour.

Our final stop was in Roma to enjoy the The Big Rig night show before making our way home via Toowoomba.

Byron Bay Mystery Tour!

🥁 The destination of our fabulous July Mystery Tour was… Byron Bay!

🍷 Our first stop was O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards where we enjoyed a delicious morning tea and wine tasting before we headed to Tweed Heads and Seagulls Club for lunch. We then made our way to our destination, Crystalbrook Byron. Nestled in 45 acres of subtropical rainforest, this resort is “where luxury meets nature”. 🌴We enjoyed dinner in the beautiful resort restaurant, Forest.

🌳On the second day we visited the charming historic town of Bangalow and explored some of the local shops. We then made our way south to Lismore where we enjoyed a guided tour of the artworks at the Lismore Regional Gallery. It was sobering to hear about the impact of the floods and the remarkable resilience of this town and its citizens.🎨

🐟We continued down to the coast to Ballina where we enjoyed an amazing lunch at the Wharf Bar & Restaurant beside the river. The rain unfortunately set in for the afternoon, so we made our way back to relax at the resort.

🐋 On our last day we spent time in Byron Bay, visiting the spectacular Lighthouse and spotting whales and dolphins before taking a short trip on the Byron Bay Train (the Solar Train) to North Beach. Here we visited Stone & Wood Brewing and the delightful Byron Bay Cookies where we tasted their wares and learnt about these two remarkable local success stories.

🌊 We made our way along the scenic Tweed Coast Rd to our final stop at Farm & Co Kingscliff where we had a wonderful banquet overlooking their lovely rural setting. 🚜 🌻

This was a fantastic Mystery tour with a wonderful group of travellers!

Carnarvon Gorge Tour 2026

🌴Carnarvon Gorge is an oasis in the outback! We had a fantastic tour there last week. Carnarvon Gorge Wilderness Lodge was our base during our visit. We explored the Moss Garden and the Nature Trail with our very informative guides, Michelle and Simon from Australian Nature Guides.

We visited Nyanda Station and met the delightful Caity and Christian from Azure Nature Tours. We enjoyed a delicious morning tea and learnt about the geology of the area and life on a cattle station. Next day we walked to Mickey Creek and the Rock Pool, showing another part of the Gorge area.

On our way home we visited The Big Rig and did a tour of the facility and climbed up the tower. We also had a great tour of the Roma Saleyards. We were also fortunate to see the amazing entries and winners in Roma’s annual Sculptures Out Back competition (Roma Revealed).

Carnarvon Gorge is such a beautiful part of Queensland. If you haven’t been there yet – put it on your list!
