Journey complete – Broome to Queensland
After an overnight stop in Alice Springs, our AAC crew continued the ferry flight east—crossing the Simpson Desert, one of the largest and most remote sand desert systems in the world, before tracking into Charleville and then onward to Caboolture, where the aircraft is now safely hangared while we finalise a permanent home in Redcliffe.
Did you know?
• The Simpson Desert spans more than 170,000 km² and contains over 1,000 parallel sand dunes, making it one of Australia’s most iconic outback regions.
• Charleville has long been a critical aviation and transport hub for western Queensland, historically supporting medical flights, mail services, and remote communities.
We would also like to thank the Crew at south west air for their delicious fruit cake and energising coffee whilst they refuelled our aircraft.
This ferry flight has taken the Beechcraft B58 Baron across some of Australia’s most diverse operating environments—from tropical weather in the north, through desert dust and turbulence, to the eastern states—demonstrating the capability of both the aircraft and our pilots.
The Baron is expected to be online for charter operations by mid-January, supporting executive travel, FIFO operations, and flexible point-to-point charters.
Thanks to everyone involved in getting her home safely. More updates soon as we bring the aircraft into service.
