Kath Foley Children's Centre & Kindergarten

Kath Foley Children's Centre & Kindergarten Long daycare and kindergarten. We have achieved a quality assessment rating of exceeding the National Quality Standards.

Kath Foley Children's Centre & Kindergarten has operated as a community based, not for profit children's centre offering long day care and funded 4 year old kindergarten since 1985. We aim to create an environment where children's experiences are appropriate for their developmental stage, interests, family culture and background. We acknowledge the child as an active decision maker in their own le

arning and the family as integral and crucial contributors to a child's education. We develop an understanding of each child's skills, experience, interests and ways of thinking in order to identify outcomes for each child in each learning area. This leads to the provision of opportunities where children may grow and develop in skills, attitude and thinking. We promote play in a natural environment as the most valuable vehicle for children's learning.

We know it can be hard to make it to a set open day, so we’re inviting all interested families to book in for a guided tour and see our rooms in action. Meet the educators and get a feel for what every day is like. Kindy registrations are now open for 2027. We also have a few spots left for any families still looking for kindy/long daycare options this year.

Earlier in the week, the kindergarten rooms enjoyed a visit from Sharon from the sustainability team at Wellington Shire Council, who taught us about the life cycle of worms and what we can place in the compost for the worms to eat and grow.

In the Redgum kindergarten room, we follow the scribble-to-script program to work alongside children to achieve their handwriting goals. This month, the children have been learning shapes to support drawing and graphic skills. By supporting children to recognise shapes, they have begun forming them in drawings. This control, understanding and detail sets them up for writing. Next, we will be working on direction and concentration spans.

It's here! Kindy registration is now open for 2027. If your child will be 3 or 4 by 30 April next year, they are eligible for 15 hours of government-funded Kinder.

📅 For families who already attend long daycare, we often get asked if that means you end up paying for the "kindy" part of the day. The good news is that we automatically apply the Kindy free government funding to your bill during school terms (You'll see savings approx. 40 weeks of the year). So, you get the benefit of free Kinder with an early childhood teacher, offered every day of the week Mon-Fri, plus access to care in the mornings/afternoons/school holidays from 7am-6pm.

👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 For current Kath Foley Families, we'll be reaching out soon to confirm the days you'd like.

🏫 For new families who are considering Kath Foley, we'd love to welcome you for a tour and answer any questions you may have. Give us a call on 03 5144 7188.

💻 You can register for Kindy with us directly on our website.

The Wattle Room (2-3yrs) children participated in a variety of experiences throughout term one. They engaged in an Easter egg hunt, showing excitement as they searched for hidden eggs around the environment.
The children also spent time washing dishes in the water play area, exploring sensory play and practising everyday routines.
During a group walk, the children demonstrated awareness of their surroundings as they moved together. At morning tea, they sat together and ate, engaging in social interactions with peers and educators. The children also took part in ball games, practising their coordination and turn-taking skills.
We also participated in the “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” experience, using our imagination, movement, and voices to actively engage with the story.
