Drift back to a time when waterways were highways 🚤. Learn about the early settlement of Gippsland, the discovery of gold 🪙 and the impacts of these changes on the Gunaikurnai people.

Your 1.5-hour cruise aboard the historic Rubeena (built in 1912) will take you from the Port of Sale to Australia’s oldest surviving Swing Bridge (1883) 😲 This impressive bridge still swings open each Saturday and Sunday to allow vessels to enter the Port of Sale, of course, the weekend afternoon cruise is timed to see this!

As you cruise up the canal, you’ll take in Ramsar-listed wetlands abutting the river – home to an abundance of birdlife 🦅 and native fauna, including koalas 🐨. Then pass ancient river redgums, bearing scars left by the Brayakooloong clan of the Gunaikurnai creating canoes.
