Sea Kayak Australia is dedicated to providing a unique and organic way to explore all Melbourne has to offer. Whether you’re kayaking besides the dolphins or looking above at Melbourne’s skyscrapers, kayaking encourages you to tour the Australian land from a new approach. With safety being our top priority, you are able to relax in a double kayak - so only basic fitness is required - and follow your devoted kayak guide through the water. Stop at amazing Australian beaches, experience the natural environment of Melbourne, and unify with the culture only accessible by kayak. Available to schools, large and small groups, or independent parties, Sea Kayak Australia offers tours, courses, and kayak hire in Melbourne and eastern Victoria. Though sea kayaking tour season is from September through to April, independent kayak hire is available all year round for half or full day hire. Available in Melbourne City St. Kilda, these tours usually last around 2.5 hours and provide insight to what kayak touring is as well as kayaking experience. Explore Melbourne night lights while kayaking along old and new waterways or feel the waves along off the St. Our team supports inexperienced kayakers, with Introductory Sea Kayaking Courses conducted at Sandringham Harbor. Get a feel of being on the water in a kayak for the first time or gain extra assistance in preparation for an expedition, the supportive staff will help you refine your skills as a sea kayaker. The aim of this course is to give you a good foundation in the knowledge and skills essential for safe and enjoyable paddling. If you’re feeling adventurous and up to a kayaking challenge, experience the Full day sea kayak tours. Located approximately 1.5 hours from Melbourne, these full day tours take you to either Point Nepean Dolphin Sanctuary (Sorrento) or Phillip Island. With a duration of around 6 hours, these tours offer you the perfect opportunity to see dolphins, sea eagles, sea caves, and historical sites of Melbourne. Available through Sea Kayak Australia is Multi-day tours that enable adults to explore the great outdoors over a 3-6 day period. Either over a long weekend or individually chosen dates, you and a group of your peers will be provided camping gear to support your adventure, including boat pick up at Wilsons Promontory. Choose your own adventure and explore the waterways of Melbourne independently. Kayak Hire, for either single or double kayaks, is available for half or full day hire all year round. Ensure to book beforehand to secure your kayak or organise for kayak take away for multiple days. Sea Kayak Australia includes a range of tours suitable for schools and education groups for in depth outdoor education and environmental science purposes that range from half day tours along the Yarra River through to multi day expeditions at Gippsland Lakes and Wilsons Promontory. For first time paddlers and those who have never had any formal instruction. The aim of this class is to give you a good introduction in the knowledge and skills essential for safe and enjoyable paddling. We will fit you to the most suitable single kayak in relation to your height and weight. You will learn about: kayak equipment and what to wear, manoeuvring your kayak (forward, reverse, side ways, turning and steering) support strokes, sculling, edging, a short afternoons paddle, “wet-exits” and recovery from a capsize.

While paddling we will discuss clothing, weather, strokes and stability, self- and assisted-rescues .

While scheduled classes are usually delivered in the warmer months (September-March), it can also be delivered year-round by Private Tuition (a full day) - usually mid-week (additional cost applies to Private Tuition as this is a one-on -one class/ only your group attends).
