Customers are taken on an educational guided tour of the facility by a qualified marine scientist, where they meet local marine creatures such as sharks, sea snakes, stonefish, stingrays and many more! Ocean Park is entirely solar powered and produces their own fresh water and is a centre for scientific research and rehabilitation.

Check out the celebrity visitor who popped in to see the fish today! 🦎🐟

This cheeky dragon (who we’ve now named Jam Jam Junior) was spotted soaking up the sunshine in the garden out the front of Ocean Park.

Clearly comfortable in front of the camera, Jam Jam Junior happily posed for a few photos before continuing with his very important lizard business. 📸☀️

Our wonderful guides are ready to take you on an underwater adventure!

Every Ocean Park aquarium tour is led by one of our knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides, who bring Shark Bay’s incredible marine life to life through fascinating facts, animal stories and plenty of opportunities to ask questions.

From sharks and rays to fish and other wonderfully weird sea creatures, there’s always something new to discover—and our guides LOVE sharing their knowledge with curious visitors of all ages.

Eye spy with my little eye… 👀💙

Take a close look at the incredible eye of a bluespotted maskray!

Their eyes sit on top of their body, allowing them to keep watch while resting almost completely buried beneath the sand 🪸

It’s the perfect setup for life on the seafloor, where blending in can be the difference between being spotted and staying safely hidden.

This week’s Education Station took a deep dive into the incredible biology of barramundi and other aquatic animals! 🐟🧠

We explored osmosis and osmoregulation—the clever ways fish maintain the right balance of water and salts within their bodies. Barramundi are euryhaline, meaning they can move between fresh and salt water, while many other fish are restricted to a much narrower range of salinity. 🔁

We also learnt that barramundi are protandrous hermaphrodites..in simpler terms..they begin life as males, with some changing into females as they grow. Large females can be incredibly productive too, releasing MILLIONS of eggs during a breeding season!

💡 To finish, we compared fluorescence, where animals absorb and re-emit light, with bioluminescence, where organisms create their own light through an internal chemical reaction.

Fish changing s*x, travelling between fresh and salt water and creating or reflecting light- that’s a lot of science for one little whiteboard—and another reminder that there is always something fascinating to learn at Ocean Park!

This quote beautifully captures the heart of what we do at Ocean Park. 💙

People are far more likely to protect the ocean when they feel connected to it, but that connection begins with understanding.

Every guided tour, animal encounter and curious question gives us an opportunity to introduce visitors to the incredible wildlife of Shark Bay, explain the important role each species plays and inspire a deeper appreciation for our marine environment.

We hope our visitors leave with more than a few fascinating facts. We hope they leave caring a little more deeply about the ocean and the animals that call it home.

Because education creates understanding, understanding creates love, and love inspires conservation. 🦈🐟

Our Shark Dive Experience gives you the chance to enter Ocean Park’s incredible shark lagoon and see its residents from a completely different perspective.

The lagoon is WA’s largest aquarium shark lagoon and is home to several shark species and plenty of other fascinating marine life.

Keep your eyes peeled while you’re down there too..sharks naturally shed thousands of teeth throughout their lives. If you happen to find one during your dive, it’s finders keepers!🦷🙌🏽
