If someone comes to me with no idea where to go and just says 'somewhere amazing'... there's one destination I come back to every single time.

It's not Paris. It's not Bali. It's not New York (though I do love all three).

For me, it's always going to be Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

There is just something about Canada that gets me every single time. The scale of it, the wilderness, the way you can go from a buzzing city like Vancouver to standing in front of a glacier in the space of a day. It's dramatic and peaceful all at once and I don't think there's anywhere else on earth quite like it.

I say this a lot, that I have access to rates and deals the public can't get online. But what does that actually mean in practice? Let me break it down.

As an accredited travel agent, I have direct relationships with airlines, hotel groups, cruise lines and tour operators. These suppliers offer agents preferential pricing, package rates and inclusions that simply aren't available on booking sites.

There's a difference between a travel agent who books from a brochure and one who actually invests in knowing the world.

When I recommend a hotel, it's because I know it's good... not because the commission is better.

When I tell you which neighbourhood to stay in, it's most likely because I've walked those streets myself.

And when I say skip the tourist trap and go here instead... I mean it, whether that's from personal experience or from the trusted network of agents and operators I work with every day.

Travelling as a travel agent changes the way you see everything. I'm always thinking about my clients... what they'd love, what would surprise them, what would make this the trip of a lifetime.

Check out my honest packing list below, the non-negotiables that earn their place every single trip, plus the one thing I somehow always leave behind.

๐Ÿงณ Packing cubes. Genuinely cannot live without them
๐Ÿงณ A power adapter that actually works in every country
๐Ÿงณ Light weight jumper. Planes can get very cold
๐Ÿงณ A physical copy of all booking confirmations (yes, still)
๐Ÿงณ An empty water bottle for after security
๐Ÿงณ A mini first aid kit. Always, no exceptions

And the thing I always forget? A powerboard. Every. Single. Time.
