With its timbered houses and canal-lined streets, Colmar is basically a fairytale come to life all year round. But tack on some fairy lights, and ice-skating rink and an early 1900s carousel, and you have one of the most charming Christmas destinations in all of Europe. ✨

Each market offers its own version of holiday cheer, from nativity scenes to children’s choirs, so be prepared for some serious stall-hopping.

Now that it's December, we think it's high time that we feature some of our favourite magical Winter wonderlands around the world. 🤍❄️

The UNESCO protected Shirakawa-go Village covers 170 acres in Japan, carved out of the mountainside like real-life snow globes. Every Winter, the Shirakawa-go farmhouses receive large amounts of snow. Ogimachi Village in particular gets covered by one to two meters of snow during the peak of snow season, turning Shirakawa-go into an idyllic winter landscape.

To make it even better, the village organises special illumination events on selected Sunday and Monday evenings in January and February that attract plenty of tourists. During the light-up event, many of the village's gassho-zukuri farmhouses are lit up from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. It's a perfect place to spend a white Christmas. 🤩

Damnnnnn Mexico 🇲🇽
Check out this incredible garden buried deep in the Mexican Jungle. This surrealist garden was built by British poet Edward James wanted to create his own Garden of Eden.

Filled with elaborate decorative buildings, doors that open into nowhere, stairs that lead into the sky and lush waterfalls it’s safe to say that Edward James vision of recreating paradise truly came true. 🍃
