The heat has been phenomenal for the UK.
I’m Australian and used to that heat, but I could not cope here as in Australia we have a funny thing called “air-conditioning” which apparently hasn’t reached England’s shores yet… 🙄

I used to work here 38 years ago in the Richmond Hill Hotel.
I loved living in Richmond. It was fabulous and it’s even more fabulously expensive now..

Thoroughly enjoyed doing our first sketch together in Athens.
This is a remarkable place that seriously no one knows about and just walks past.
It’s probably the oldest street with the same name in Europe - over 2000 years old.
This monument was built by the Ancient Greeks and this whole street used to be lined with them.
This is the only one left standing.
It housed a bronze tripod on top which was to show off the magnanimity of the donor who was a rich Greek citizen who funded large theatricals in the Amphitheatre nearby.
People voted on the most popular play, and the winner got to fund and erect his own eternal monument with a tripod on top.
A bit like an Academy Award for producers.

A quick sketch at the beginning of our tour in Greece this month. Just saw that the Athenians have taken down all the scaffolding from the Parthenon so it looks like it did 220 years ago without cranes and frames etc.
Missed this by 2 weeks!
What a wonderful tour it was with Ian Fennelly and some delightful sketchers.
