Tintoretto’s name actually means “the little dyer” as his father was a dyer - a “tintore” in Venice.
He spent over 20 years painting over 60 paintings in the fabulous Scuola Grande Di San Rocco nearby and painted the largest mural painting in the world called “Paradise” in the Doge”s Palace in Venice.

I’m a tad ashamed to even put my hastily scribbled sketch up next to his extraordinary masterpieces! 🤣
Venice has a sketching or painting pearl on every bend and corner. .

Not making excuses but I am. We sketched with the wonderful Jini Urbans in his hometown of Suwon in Korea a week ago.
I scribbled this sketch in 15 minutes from four different locations as I chased shade and escaped sun and a delightful local couple who wanted me to sketch them instead!
Bless them.
I wish we had a Jini Genie in my hometown I could sketch with each week. Such a talent! .

The heat has been phenomenal for the UK.
I’m Australian and used to that heat, but I could not cope here as in Australia we have a funny thing called “air-conditioning” which apparently hasn’t reached England’s shores yet… 🙄

I used to work here 38 years ago in the Richmond Hill Hotel.
I loved living in Richmond. It was fabulous and it’s even more fabulously expensive now..
