Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences

Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences Our Tour Guides are experienced bushwalkers and trekkers with long-standing ties to Tasmania.

They seek to share their love of Tasmania's beautiful wilderness areas with others by offering guided bushwalks for small groups.

Cockle Creek’s been busy, but it’s only part of the picture.
Last week had us moving people in and out of Huon Camp, Cynthia Bay, Frenchman’s Cap, Cradle Mountain and the Walls of Jerusalem, while also supporting cycling tours on the Eastern Shore and running mountain bike shuttles in the North East.

To round it out, we finished the week with a bulk uplift of 22 people back to Hobart.

Since 2003, part of the logistics and guiding behind remote bushwalking in Tasmania.

2003
Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences is founded by Graham McLean, providing hiker accommodation, guided day and multi-day walks, and transport into some of Tasmania’s most remote places.

2018
Kevin Lempa takes over the business. TWE pivots away from accommodation while continuing to focus on guided walking and reliable hiker transport statewide.

2024
Rohan and Dianne Sheehan purchase TWE, bringing it under the Adventure Factor umbrella alongside Into The Wild mountain bike tours.

With Into The Wild established in northern Tasmania, TWE grows into a truly statewide operation.

More than 20 years on, TWE remains a long-standing part of Tasmania’s walking community.

Big thanks to for spending the day with us and letting us show her around one of our favourite places, the Tarn Shelf in Mt Field National Park, Tasmania’s south.

Huge thanks to our lead guide (Lochy) for taking point and putting together a cracking lunch.

This is the kind of day we love putting together. Great people, great places and great food.

A short, easy wander on the West Coast.
The Franklin River Walk is a 1.2km grade one loop that hugs the river before ducking back into cool-climate rainforest.

Farmhouse Creek trailhead.

No vehicle access beyond here, bridges out, bikes left to cover the last stretch.

This is the start or finish of the Eastern Arthurs and Federation Peak. We dropped a team of three in earlier this week. We’ll pick them up next at Huon Camp.

Early last week Lochy dropped this crew of fly fishers into Ada Lagoon, deep in the Central Plateau. From here they’ll hike and fish their way across the highlands, finishing at the Walls of Jerusalem.

This is what we do. Not just bushwalker transport, but remote logistical support that gets people and gear in and out of places where adventures actually start.

Boat transfers in the Southwest and heli hiking in the Northwest coming up this month. Stay tuned.

Yesterday we were picking our way down the Organ Pipes on Kunanyi. Today we’re out on the Cape Hauy track with Jacob from Denmark, soaking in those cliffs and that coastline. We run guided day hikes right across Tasmania, with options to suit different abilities and travel plans if you’re keen to explore a bit more.

This morning we loaded guests onto for an adventure on the North East Coast, then swung back to pick up our next client, Jacob, who’s travelled all the way from Denmark. We spent the afternoon on Kunanyi / Mt Wellington hiking the Pinnacle Track, Organ Pipes Track, Sawmill Track and finishing down the Lenah Valley Track into the Springs.

If you want to know more about our guided day trips or the random logistical solutions we pull together to get you to the start of your adventure, check out our website or drop us a line.

Yesterday was a brilliant day out for our guide Jimmy with Pam and Janet, over from the USA. They enjoyed a private transfer to Port Arthur, hopped onboard a tour, and wrapped it up with a peaceful wander through Port Arthur before heading back to Hobart.

A true Tasmanian Spring day: rain, sunshine and everything in between! We spent the day exploring Mount Field with Lochy (Guide) and our guest from the UK. Waterfalls, alpine trails, and plenty of native wildlife along the way.

Hiking season has officially kicked off. Cockle Creek looking the goods today. We’re out on all the classic runs and a handful of those off the map places, moving walkers into or out of their next big mission.
