Hamersley Inlet Campground in the Fitzgerald River National Park lived up to all our expectations. Such a beautiful area with lots of hiking trails, beautiful beaches, abundant bird life and hardly any people. The camp ground has about 14 sites of varying sizes - generous sites with some screening around each site although it was virtually empty most of the time (2/3 other sites occupied). There are also lovely camping sites on the edge of the inlet suitable for tents. No water or power, but there is an undercover area with barbecues and two eco toilets. The whole area is very well maintained and absolutely beautiful. The road in from Hopetoun is excellent and passes through lovely view points across the Fitzgerald River National Park and coastline. $15 per night per site is well worth it for this quiet, peaceful piece of paradise. No cell phone reception and you can’t book, but given that it was January and school holidays and it was empty, probably likely to get a spot anytime. We loved it.

It was just a quick overnight stop but this one was a great site.
Baden Powell camp ground (just outside Dwellingup Perth, WA).
Site 26
Long drops available.
Fire pits (when allowed)
Dogs on lead allowed.
Great bush walks and down to the river.
Was a chilly night, but with a fire to eat dinner and a diesel heater inside was a beautiful night.
Then finished with a ride on the Hotham Valley steam train. 😊

Yowah (QLD) we love you! .... on the "Come back and spend a month here" list.
We spent 2 fabulous nights at the Yowah Free Camp ... this little community is right up our alley! We fossicked, explored, sat by the fire, watched the emus that came into camp each day, star gazed, soaked in hot pools and just soaked up everything this little place had to offer! I might be biased as I really love the big sky, red earth parts of our country, they make me feel free, kinda easy in my soul and we all prefer places that arent over "touristy". A true hidden gem .... and we found a few small gems while there too! The local cafe owner taking us into the street and showing us how to find the elusive Yowah Nuts! This is a spot that should be on everyone's list, but I really regret saying that because I hope it stays just the way it is!
Very big rig and pet friendly.

The Nullarbor!!!!!!!
I loved this drive so much!!
There are heaps of amazing free camps, these were my picks: (All 2wd accessible)
* Head of Bight Carpark outside the locked gate is great.
* Eucla has 2; the Telegraph Station and next to the Nullarbr Nymph Links hole.
* Peg 54 Camp ground just off the highway is good and at the time we crossed was still open to go look at the Cliffs....just don't get to close.
* Taylors Maze(WIKI Camp) on the western end of the 90 mile straight.
We also stayed at Fraser Range Station which was also great, just not free.

I played the Nullarbor Links as well. It was an amazing way to have breaks along the way. I did 10 holes on the way West and then 8 on the way East.

Somehow we had head winds going west and then a stronger headwind going east.......such is life lol......

This great Aussie Road trip is one you should have on your list of must do's!!!!
