Lyon, our last port before we disembark and head to Paris! A visit to Lyon Cathedral, Old Town and the stunning preserved medieval walled village of Perouges 🇫🇷🥂❤️

Lyon is France's third-largest city and is widely celebrated as the country's capital of gastronomy. Situated at the scenic confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, this historic metropolis seamlessly bridges over 2,000 years of architectural heritage with a vibrant, modern cultural scene.
The Lyon Cathedral, officially known as the Saint-Jean-Baptiste-et-Saint-Étienne,
is a historic medieval landmark located in the heart of the Vieux-Lyon district. Built between 1175 and 1480, it features a unique blend of Romanesque and Gothic architecture, 12th-century stained-glass windows, and a famous 14th-century astronomical clock.
Pérouges is a beautifully preserved medieval walled village located in Eastern France. It sits on a small hill in the Ain department, about 30 kilometers northeast of Lyon.
It is officially listed as one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France (The Most Beautiful Villages of France). This tiny town transports you straight back to the Middle Ages with its stone houses, cobblestone streets, and historic charm

A relaxed morning sailing on the Saone river until we reach the lovely town of Macon. Here we discovered the
Beaujolais wine region, renowned for its vibrant, fruity wines with Gamay grape variety. The extensive planting of the Gamay grape makes Beaujolais wine region one of the several regions on the planet to focus on a single grape variety. Red wine accounts for 99% of the total wine production of the region 🇫🇷🥂❤️

Tournon-sur-Rhône is a charming medieval town located in the Ardèche department of southern France. Quaint Viviers! 😍 A beautiful, walled medieval village in the Ardèche department of southern France. Sitting right along the Rhône River, this historic gem serves as a popular stop for river cruises. It is famous for its rich religious history, ancient stone buildings, and winding cobblestone streets.

The Two Districts of Viviers - The town is historically split into two distinct areas that show how medieval society was organized:
The Upper Town (The Castle): This hill section was the home of the bishop and clergy. It is heavily fortified with protective stone walls.
The Lower Town: This area sat closer to the river. It housed the merchants, tradesmen, and everyday citizens.
Viviers Cathedral (Cathedral of Saint Vincent): Located at the very top of the hill, this 12th-century church is the seat of the Bishop of Viviers. Visitors love the panoramic views of the Rhône Valley from the top and the incredible indoor organ recitals.
Maison des Chevaliers (House of the Knights): A stunning Renaissance-era house in the lower town known for its beautifully carved stone facade.
Old Stone Alleys: The town is a living museum. Walking up the narrow, sloping paths like Rue de la Chevrerie feels like stepping back in time 🇫🇷🥂❤️
