Our first cruise of 2021 concluded on Saturday! We'd love to extend our gratitude and appreciation to everyone who joined us on board, as well as each of you who followed along from home. Today we catch up once more with our first river cruise of 2021: a magnificent journey along the Douro River.

During an included excursion to the peaceful town of Lamego, our visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Remedies revealed breathtaking views and a fascinating look into the region's history. A few of our guests who joined us in Lamego then set off on a very special DiscoverMORE excursion to uncover the opulent courtyards and sprawling gardens of Mateus Palace.

From here, it's onwards to Porto where our first cruise of 2021 comes to an end. Keep an eye on our feed for more highlights from this momentous trip, and those yet to come as we continue on our exciting return to cruising.

Have you been following news of our first 2021 river cruise?

Yesterday, Emerald Radiance made port in delightful Pocinho where a number of our guests disembarked for an invigorating canoe excursion. After lunch, we carried on towards Régua for a rural dinner hosted within an enchanting local wine estate, offering our guests an authentic taste of Portugal.

Tomorrow, after a full day in Régua, we'll continue our return through the Douro Valley towards Porto, where our journey began. Keep your eyes on our feed to make sure you don't miss out on the next leg of our memorable first journey of 2021.

We are currently experiencing a high volume of calls through our Reservations Team, which is causing extended waiting times. Today we announced that we will temporarily suspend all river cruise operations until 30 April 2020, in response to the current global COVID-19 situation.

In a statement released to guests and trade partners Mr Glen Moroney, Scenic Group owner and Chairman said, “with the news of increasing virus cases in countries around the world, the health and safety of guests and crew is our primary focus. We will continue to support our guests and trade partners during this challenging period, to ensure they come first and foremost in all our decisions”.
