Impressions of Oceania Riviera.
We have long considered the 7 night, one way cruise between Anchorage and Vancouver (or Seattle) to be the best experience, removing the big return backtrack and allowing more port time and Alaskan sightseeing.
This itinerary is available with many of our amazing cruise operators, however this experience with Oceania Riviera adds a more intimate dimension, with less passengers, incredibly attentive crew and personalised recognition.
Special dietaries are well considered, there is a “News from Home” letter at night along with current affairs related to the ship, announcements are kept to a minimum… it’s peaceful and not “Peaceville”.
The cabin has a spacious bathroom, with a step in shower that you both can use, however the ceiling is low, if you’re over 6ft you’ll be ducking!
Your stateroom bed is amazing, great pillows with a cloud like doona.
The couch is easily wide enough for 2 but not long enough for a husband in trouble, the desk and chair is adequate to shelve stuff but catching up with work is better upstairs in Baristas Bar.
It’s Alaska too so the balcony is a fool’s paradise, or for really naughty husbands.
Our fellow passengers are a pretty trim lot, yes they’re mostly retirees but they’re active and not ancient, I think that’s reflective of Oceania and their focus towards mid sized vessels, with port intensive itineraries, a high crew to guest ratio, excellent (although not abundant) onboard activities and food for Foodies!
Overall, if you value your time, heath, wellbeing, education, growth and personal space then Oceania is ticking all these boxes. The daily price is higher than a 2000+ passenger ship but perhaps not so much more for the added value.
