It’s been a little while since we have been adventuring, time is limited once school returns. But, we just spent a few nights at Sandstone Point Big 4, will share when we return home but all I can say is WOW! The most family friendly resort I’ve spent time at in ages! Who’s been here before?

Buderim Village Park

This new park only recently opened up in the heart of Buderim so we just had to check it out 😂

10 mins from the plaza, up the beautiful Buderim mountain this park didn’t disappoint! It felt so spacious with a huge layout consisting of a big oval grassed areas, toilet block, heaps of seating, and lots to explore. Various swings for the sensory kids (including a mum and bub seesaw one) hammocks, tunnel slide, spinner. We spent white a while here because it had such a beautiful vibe! Heaps of nice shops up that way to check out too if the kids allow it. It was a massive bonus to have a fair bit of shade for the kids too!

Little Monkeys Playcentre & Cafe

This cool little place is easily spotted on the way into Maryborough by the giant Ned Kelly Statue! I didn’t realise initially this was a Playcentre at first, as I always thought it was a servo, but it is both. This indoor play centre has a great climbing fort with padding and is cater for kids up to 11yrs. It has a baby area, a jumping castle and some epic awesome slides. My kids absolutely love coming here to play and always seem to make some friends.

The cafe is my other fav part about this place. Plenty of tables for parents to sit (or they are welcome to accompany on the equipment with socks on). The coffee is large, cheap and tastes amazing. That’s a huge win for me! they also do great chips and and have a cool assortment of lollies! Entry is $6.50 for under 4yrs and $8.50 for over 4yrs. That’s not too bad for a few hours of fun. It’s fully air conditioned so perfect for a hot day or a rainy one.

Make sure you bring socks (or they do sell them) and definitely stop in next time.

Maryborough Aquatic Centre

We visited the aquatic centre on our visit because we love a good cool down and proper swim. We also love the kids play areas we find for a relatively cheap cost. Maryborough Aquatic Centre had a great kids play area. It was like Little Rock pools for the kids to play in. One had a fountain, another was like a beach entry. There was a spray tunnel and a tipping water bucket. Beside the water play was also a small playground. This play area was great as it was all shallow and had heaps of play area. This area was also shaded which was a complete bonus.

The smaller outdoor pool was heated and also great for kids. I loved that the deep end was 1.2m meaning that it was deep enough for the kids to play but I could still reach while I played with them. They also had pool noodles to play with and a few other float devices. the kids loved it here!

Splashside - Maryborough

Last week we visited Maryborough with some family. There are some pretty cool places here we want to share if you ever travel up that way, it’s worth stopping in.

Splashside is one of our favourite places for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s completely free!!!! Secondly, it has water play. From a flowing bucket/drum, to sprinklers, an in ground trampoline and a water slide! It is a large area spread out allowing more room for lots of people to play, has lots to do and is interactive.

The other reason this space is so great is that water play aside, Anzac Park includes at least 4 other playground areas to play. They have a large flying fox, a ninja course for older kids, a cubby play house with mum and bub swing, a natural timber inspired obstacle course and a play fort with slides. Already amongst all these are seats everywhere, BBQs, toilets and heaps of shade from massive trees and shade sails. If you are into riding, walking ir a scoot, you can also take the large pathed track around the river. The area is well maintained and every time we have been, an ice cream truck has visited the car park making no need to ever leave!

This place is seriously well thought out for families and friends and well equipped with something for all ages! We love coming here!

Basin Park - Pelican Waters

Based in the Marina at Pelican Waters, we found this little beauty right on the water edge. This park was constructed with the remains of the SS Mr Perceval boat that washed ashore in a cycle and beached at Pelican Waters. Overseen by relaxing bar style tables this park is everything the the imagination desires and keeps a nice piece of history on the coast. You can go ’below deck’ via a little ladder and steer the ship from the captains deck. The ship is surrounded by hungry crocodile infested waters and is beautifully positioned by the water. Its only a short walk to the other side with toilets and more swings and attracted the most beautiful sea breeze on a hot day. It was shaded and clean, our kids loved hearing of the story of the boat and I think any little explorer would love playing here!

Scribbly Gum Park - Pelican Waters

Another cool park in Pelican Waters. This one has a very large space and has tried to cater for everyone. It has a range of activities for all kids to enjoy from climbing, slides and play equipment, to sand play, handball courts hopscotch and even riding paths. My favourite was the setup for the swings. I loved the round setup and cruisy feel. Although it has more shade than the other we visited, it was still quite warm in the dead centre of the day. I imagine the mornjng and afternoons would be quite enjoyable as the trees around would provide more shade at a later or earlier time. I didn’t see toilets in this facility though but there was plenty of seating and BBQs to use too.

The other thing that was good was this park included a large open area that would be great for an afternoon game of cricket or ball with the family.

Jensen Park - Pelican Waters - Bells Esplanade

This is a brand new park just gone in we thought we would check out after our morning swim. We arrived at this park around lunch time and it was scorching hot. The park itself was really cool and we absolutely loved the ladybug shade sail over the swings. The ninja course was cool and it had tunnels and slides. Our kids loved the look of it but it did get hot very quickly. With this being said, one of the slides was closed off with a sign saying that it was too hot to use the metal slide and more shade was on the way! So I’m pleased to see that and look forward to going back.

The other cool thing about this park is that it had a cool bike/scooter track that looked so fun with twists, bends and bumps. It was a bit too hot for us to try this time of the day, but in the afternoon it would have been great for the kids to enjoy. Especially since the overlooking area for parents has a bar type feel.

This facility had brand new bbqs, tables and toilets. I look foward to going back here again soon!
