Taste

This page is a taste of my journeys around this amazing planet. Its a blog about travel, a photo journal of food, an account of adventure and a temptation of tours. You can follow me here, and on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr, and then, why not follow me around the world. Travel

I have travelled extensively through Asia, from the tropical heat of Thailand and South East Asia, to

the heights of Tibet and Nepal. My journeys have taken me to some 14 countries so far, scores of cities and hundreds of towns and villages. I love visiting new and far off places, meeting new people and having awesome new cultural experiences. Food

Food has always been a big part of my life and a huge part of my travels. I love to cook and I love to eat and I love to share my love of cooking with others. I love learning about the food of different countries and regions and I run cooking classes at home to teach people the dishes I have learned to cook while travelling. There is a page on my website with delicious recipes that you can try yourself. The recipes are downloadable and I am adding to the list all the time. Why not send me your favourite recipe and I can feature it there. Adventure

It’s not always about the food, although a man’s gotta eat, but I also love getting up to some adventurous activities when I am on the road. Don’t get me wrong, I’m no adrenaline ju**ie, but I have been known to zip-line through rain forest canopies and go spelunking into deep dark caves. Trekking, motorbike riding, swimming in waterfalls are a few other things I like to do, as well as trying out all the local transport in the places I travel. Local buses, trains, tuk-tuks, trucks, bikes, boats and even horses and buffalo are some of the different modes of getting around and getting to know the locals and their culture. Tours

I am currently planning some awesome food adventures to Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. Each tour will be tailored to feature street food tours, cooking classes and the best food experiences each country has to offer. The tours will also feature the best cultural experiences possible by getting off the beaten track and meeting locals away from typical touristy locations. Of course some of the more popular sights, such as Angkor Wat in Cambodia, are a must see, despite how may tourists are there. And don’t worry, there will be plenty of free time for shopping, catching up on some sleep or finding your own special, favourite restaurant. Subscribe to my blog to stay in touch with updates about these awesome tours coming in 2017.

With virtually no internet in the cape it was impossible to post anything on the trip. The day before I left Cairns for the cape I did a 1/2 day Canyoning trip to Behana Gorge. It was exhausting but I had an awesome time.

It was a special treat to fly over The Great Barrier Reef up to Cape Tribulation and down the coast back to Cairns. The tiny 4-seat Cessna was a lot more comfortable than I expected and there was a lot more legroom than on Jetstar. Although it was a bit overcast and very windy, the 80 minute flight was quite smooth and the view was spectacular. At one point the pilot took us down low over one of the reefs and we spotted a lot of sea turtles.

It’s been an anxious couple of days wondering if I’ll be able to take my trip. Finally bound for Cairns and Cape York.
