Mark your calendars! The Brimbank Writers and Readers Festival returns from March 13th-22nd, 2025, offering ten days of FREE literary events and activities for all ages. Hosted at various libraries and venues across Brimbank, this festival celebrates diversity, creativity, and lifelong learning, thanks to our Principal Sponsor, Victoria University.
This year's program is packed with exciting opportunities to engage with authors, explore diverse genres, and connect with fellow book lovers. Highlights include:
Opening Night: Multi-award-winning artist Kate Ceberano in conversation with Paul Bateman about her memoir, Unsung.
Author Talks: Hear from a diverse range of authors, including Brimbank local Michelle Bourke, LGBTQIA+ author Holden Sheppard, Australian Afro-Caribbean author Maxine Beneba Clarke, parenting expert Michael Carr-Gregg, and many more.
Special Events: Enjoy culinary explorations with "The Art of Food" and "Meatballs around the World," a family performance by world music star Mitch Tambo, and a screening of the powerful film The Last Daughter.
Workshops: Develop your writing skills with workshops on comedy writing, grief writing, spoken word, and digital illustration.
Youth & Family Programs: Engage young readers and writers with award-winning author Dr. Lili Wilkinson, Alex Miles, and Kathryn Mulqueeney's Costume Box Children's Storytime.
