Now for the good news from the weekend… 💜🐴✨

While I was in Victoria picking up our beautiful new mare from the Shepparton sales, we received a very special phone call from the sanctuary in the early hours of Saturday morning…

Maybel had welcomed her beautiful little foal into the world! 🥹💜

This gorgeous little baby appeared overnight, safe and healthy, with beautiful mum Maybel doing absolutely amazingly. She has taken to motherhood so naturally and is already proving what a wonderful, attentive mum she is. 🦋

Because Maybel lives as part of one of our wild mobs, we want to respect her space and allow those precious first days between mum and baby to be as peaceful and natural as possible. We have been keeping a close eye on them from a respectful distance and interfering as little as we can while making sure they are both doing well.

So, we don’t even know yet whether our newest little sanctuary resident is a boy or a girl! 💙🩷 And honestly, right now that doesn’t matter — we are simply incredibly grateful to see a healthy little foal beside a healthy, happy mum.

There is something so special about watching a wild mare raise her baby surrounded by her mob, with the space and freedom to simply be a horse. 💜

Welcome to the world, beautiful little one. 🐴🌿

You were certainly the most wonderful surprise to come out of an already enormous weekend, and we cannot wait to watch you grow up here at Where the Wild Horses Run.

After an unbelievably shocking day yesterday today I spent the day reminding myself why I do what I do. Why I get up in the freezing cold to do hay and water, why I spend nights driving to auctions to pick up those abandoned. Some people say I am crazy, some say I will burn out but when I look into their eyes I know what I do it for. As the beautiful Mandy says we just need to remember to breathe through the challenges and there is a rainbow after every storm
