When moving home means falling in love with this city all over again 💌

There’s something really special about settling back into the place you were born and seeing it with fresh eyes. Maybe I’m appreciating the little things I once took for granted, or maybe living away for so long has given me a whole new perspective on the place I’ve always called home. Either way, I’m absolutely adoring what I see.

After 4 years of calling Sydney home, being back in Dublin feels like getting to know an old friend all over again. The cosy cafés, the autumn leaves, the familiar streets, the little corners of the city I’ve walked past a hundred times but never really stopped to appreciate.

It’s funny how being away can make you see home differently. I spent so long exploring the world and falling in love with places far from here, and now I get to experience that same feeling in the city I was born in.

I’m still finding my feet, figuring out this new chapter and settling into a version of life that feels both familiar and completely new. But if there’s one thing I’m learning, it’s that sometimes you don’t need to go somewhere new to find something beautiful. Sometimes you just need to look at what’s already there a little differently.

Oh, to be swimming beneath a sea stack on the Irish coastline with absolutely nowhere to be 🌊

Someone commented on my video from this location accusing it of being AI… It’s scary sometimes to think what kind of world do we live in when people assume that raw, natural beauty looks too perfect to be real?

These photos were captured in Ballybunion, a gorgeous little coastal town in County Kerry on the Wild Atlantic Way. The first few are from Nuns Beach, a secluded little bay you can see from the Ballybunion Cliff Walk, a short but incredible walk with panoramic views of the Atlantic, dramatic sea stacks and the beaches below.

We’d had no rain for days, the ocean was crystal clear and there was barely a breath of wind. The conditions were sublime and I couldn’t help but feel incredibly lucky to experience Ireland looking like this after missing it for so long.

Would you believe this was a completely last-minute plan suggested by my Dad. He used to play golf in Ballybunion years ago and wanted to show it to me, so we decided to go. We ended up having the most incredible morning together, catching up on lost time, walking, taking in the views and swimming on the beaches below 🩵

I think I’ll have this morning living rent-free in my mind for a very long time. Not just because of the wild beauty we got to experience, but because of the quality time with my Dad.

Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you never planned for, so be open to a little spontaneity - you never know where it might take you! 💌

The Irish road trip everyone needs to do once in their lifetime ☘️

📌 Slea Head Drive, Di**le Peninsula, Co. Kerry

I’ve seen a lot of our beautiful country and I genuinely don’t think there’s a drive that gets more scenic than this. On a trip to Di**le, spend at least a half day exploring the best of the Di**le Peninsula along the Slea Head Drife.

They don’t call Singapore the Garden City for nothing! 🌿

📍 Welcome to Gardens by the Bay

You’ve probably heard of it, it’s one of Singapore’s most famous attractions but the best part? You can explore a huge part of it completely free. The OCBC Skyway, Cloud Forest and Flower Dome are paid attractions, but you can wander through the Supertree Grove, stroll around the lake and walk across the bridge towards Marina Bay Sands without spending a dollar.

The 18 Supertrees range from 25-50 metres tall and are covered in over 160,000 plants. They also collect rainwater and generate solar energy. If you’re a Crazy Rich Asians fan, you’ll recognise them instantly. It’s one of the film’s most iconic scenes and seeing them in person was honestly a bucket list moment for me.

I did pay to go up the OCBC Skyway (around S$14) and loved seeing the Supertrees from above.

If you have the time, I’d recommend visiting both during the day and after dark. Every evening at 7:45pm and 8:45pm. there’s the free Garden Rhapsody light and sound show at the Supertree Grove.

Ps. Can we cope with the Gardens by the Bay pooches? 🐶

Did I experience the wrong side of Sapa? 👀 🇻🇳

Welcome to Sapa, known as the Swiss Alps of Southeast Asia. It’s a place that completely surprised me. I was expecting an authentic tribal hillside village that felt off the beaten path & instead I was greeted with a bit of a more commercialised Disneyland with more tourists than I’d imagined. I entirely get the irony that I too am adding to that group of tourists! 😂

I loved the alpine views, rice terraces, misty mornings, colourful architecture & incredible coffee culture but I’ll be honest…it was very different to what I expected. If I went back, I’d stay outside the town in a local homestay, ideally amongst the rice terraces & make trekking and village life the focus. So if you’re planning a trip to Sapa, here’s what I’d recommend 👇

For a more authentic Sapa:
🏡 STAY: Look at homestays around Ta Van/Ta Phin rather than staying in town. Stay with a local family & wake up amongst the rice terraces
🥾 TREK: Get out into the rice terraces & explore the valleys with a local guide

General reccs:
🏨 STAY: Want a boujee hotel with a rooftop pool and incredible mountain views? Pistachio Hotel was a great option & I loved our stay. Watching the morning mist roll through the peaks was a highlight, as was the insane infinity pool
☕ COFFEE: Horizon Coffee for a quieter coffee stop, or Cong Caphe for their incredible coconut coffee.
🚶 EXPLORE: Stroll through the town, admire the French colonial architecture, grab a coffee with a view, bring a book, get lost in the streets, enjoy the rice terrace views & walk around the lake.
🍜 FOOD: Lado Homestay & Restaurant for lunch + Men Men Sapa for dinner.

The more commercialised side to keep an eye out for:
🏘️ CAT CAT VILLAGE: Pretty, but quite commercialised.
🚂 MUONG HOA TRAIN: Scenic + fun way to reach Fansipan.
⛰️ FANSIPAN: The Roof of Indochina, check the weather first!
🌈 RAINBOW SLIDE: Random, touristy but weirdly fun.
🌉 RONG MAY GLASS BRIDGE: For the adventurous.
