Meet Sandringham Private Game Reserve, a new safari destination in the Greater Kruger.

Set along the Timbavati River, this 4,500-hectare reserve has been five years in the making. Once a hunting reserve, the land has been carefully restored, with wildlife rehabilitation, habitat recovery and community involvement at the heart of the project.

Part of that work has involved training young people from neighbouring communities as wildlife trackers, giving them the skills and experience to build careers in conservation and become part of protecting the landscape around them.

The vision is to be part of the wider Greater Kruger ecosystem, creating more space for wildlife to move between neighbouring reserves.

Now, the first guests are arriving, with N’weti and Shisaka Camps, plus Sandringham House for exclusive stays, open and available to book from August 2026.

A pretty special time to visit somewhere at the beginning of its next chapter.

Whale watching season is here 🐋

Every year, from June to November, South Africa’s coastline comes alive as southern right and humpback whales make their way through our waters.

August is one of the best times to experience this incredible migration, with whales often spotted along the coast near Cape Town and beyond.

From scenic coastal drives to viewpoints overlooking the ocean, there are plenty of ways to witness these gentle giants in their natural environment.
