We got lucky this morning before the big weather and swell started to roll in! A long search ended with a very lively whale breaching into the wind and waves near South Head. Some dolphins also came to play and gave us some serious air time!

Our Express morning cruise was an unforgettable one! 🚀

A few chin scratching head lunges and a couple of breaches to make us cheer them on.

If you look closely at the second image, you can see whales baleen in its mouth, instead of teeth like ours, humpback whales have keratin (the same stuff our finger nails and hair is made up of) in their mouth which are formed as plates to help them with filter feeding. 🐋😬

It was beautiful on the water today and we can’t wait to see lots more active whales in the coming weeks!

I guess we should have stayed in the harbour today! 🥹

Usually humpback whales swim straight past the harbour entrance on their way north, but occasionally they take a left hand turn and take the scenic route through the harbour.

After a lap or two, they usually find their way out again and continue their journey north! 🐳

Tomorrow isn't looking the best in terms of weather, with only our 9:45 cruise from Darling Harbour sailing, but from Saturday onwards we will FINALLY see some sunshine 🤞🌞
