National Volunteer Week highlights the impact that volunteers have across communities every day.

At ASA, being a volunteer-run society means we see firsthand the impact that people can have by simply showing up and getting involved. It also reminds us that volunteering extends far beyond university and can look different for everyone.

There’s no one path or one way to get involved, which is why we wanted to highlight a few examples of how volunteering can look.

To everyone already volunteering within ASA and across the wider MQ community, thank you for the time, effort and energy you continue to give. Your contribution never goes unnoticed ❤️

National Volunteer Week 2026 ❤️

A week to recognise the people who give their time, energy and support to others and their communities.

At ASA, volunteering is at the heart of everything we do. As a student-led and volunteer-run society, every event, opportunity and initiative is made possible by students who choose to give back.

This week, we’re celebrating and thanking all volunteers within ASA and across the wider community.

Your resume might be good. It might also be the reason you’re getting ghosted by every internship application you submit.

Join us at the Resume Roast! 🔥 The employability event where we say the things recruiters are probably already thinking. No corporate fluff. Just brutally honest, constructive feedback designed to help accounting, finance and commerce students build resumes that actually stand out. ✨

Bring a printed copy of your resume and prepare for real feedback on everything from formatting disasters and vague buzzwords to suspiciously overused “detail-oriented team player” claims. We’ll break down common mistakes, explain what employers actually notice, and help you understand how to present your experience in a way that feels professional, credible and memorable. 🤝

The vibe is honest, fun and slightly unhinged, but always supportive. This is a safe space. The goal is not to embarrass students, but to create an engaging environment where professional development feels less intimidating and far more real. You’ll leave with practical advice, written feedback on your resume, and hopefully fewer reasons for recruiters to close your application after six seconds.
