Still recovering from the MCL injury and no Snow worth risking more damage to Ski on, Wolfmuvva and I went on a road trip, so far we have spent a beautiful 2 days by the beach at Merimbula, what a beautiful part of the country with pristine beaches, great food and some awesome walking tracks.
Saw a good sized goanna who was photo shy but had plenty of time to take some shots of this beautiful red belly.
The track was 9 km, 4.5km in and back, lunch at the Tathra pub, didn’t see Cliff there (the previous owner of the Sundeck Hotel in Perisher) but enjoyed a hazy IPA and a really nice burrito bowl.

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.

We had an 8cm dusting after the 108mm of rain over Friday-Saturday.

Thanks Leanne for the cake and to my stand-in family for making me their temporary Dad 🥹🥳

The best hot chocolates on the mountain are definitely from the Pretty Valley Kiosk.
These hard working folk have tried and tried this year and struggled with lift closures, bad weather and dodgy snow.
It’s great to see them having a go outside the square, there’s a lot of lodges near by whose guests can easily access this unique mountain cafe and even more-so now with the Pretty Vally Kiosk open for walk-ins.
Please go there if you can, one of the last remaining privately run cafes on the mountain needs your support now more than ever.

Yesterday started with a magnificent sunrise, bringing the old adage, “red sky in morning sailor take warning” to reality with the stronger wind starting around 10am and snow then rain soon after, it was a wet day for Leanne and I but with our 4Site co-workers, we all made the day fun, we finished feeling quite elated rather than wet and miserable.
The post-work b**r shouted by “Big Joe” the boss, was a lovely sign of gratitude to the team for a job well done under difficult conditions.
Very proud of Wolfmuvva for giving her all and on the drive home, we chatted non-stop about the fun we had today.

The end of week 7 for Leanne and I.
We have experienced so many things and met some lovely people like lodge owners/managers, business owners, delivery truck drivers, suppliers to the lodges, local business staff and the many lovely people we have had the pleasure to supply a much needed niche service to.
The bluebird days seem to follow our work roster, nothing beats ditching some layers and working in a t-shirt in a snow covered environment.
It’s hard work without a doubt, by the end of day 3 we are pooped but the opportunity to work with some amazing and inspiring people, to have caring and empathetic employers and driving some cutting edge machinery makes it all worthwhile!

Where else do you get paid to do something you love??

We’ve had some shocker seasons This year is up there but have a look at these comparisons

Some of the best things are free, like the views from Orana lodge in North Perisher.
Leanne and I are getting to some of the more remote lodges and loving the drive there and back, plus the occasional trip to The Sundeck Hotel, under new management with their famous BBQ outside, now a daily occurrence.

During our runs to and from lodges, we often lower the mats and add some corduroy to the roads expertly cared for by our night grooming crew

A few days off between shifts, time to play tourist. Great to see Steve “The Eyre Legend” Young again. I regret not taking a selfie with him.

Had a lovely drive today, seeing the local towns and back country.

Morning tea at The Lott in Cooma, last time Wolfmuvva and I were there it needed some mojo, they found it!! Great service, great coffee and a yummy pastry. The Thai next door (same owners) has been very, very highly recommended so we’ll give that a crack another day. https://phasthai.com.au

After a quick Aldi fix, we headed off to Dalgety, dropping a visit to Nimmitabel due to the fact I couldn’t get Leanne away from that blasted middle aisle in Aldi and we’re were low on time.

Lunch at the pub in this picturesque village (the last village on the Snowy River) was great, under new ownership, the pub is facing a resurgence and is desperate for staff, look them up if you need a job.

We made it home in time for Leanne to make some Anzac biscuits for the 4Site Friday team and later, watch NSW smash QLD yesssss

The end of week 3
Wolfmuvva is more confident in the Can Ams and I’ve been learning and driving the snow cats, we’re both driving solo, delivering guests to their lodges. It’s hard work and challenging but the people we are working with are the most dynamic crew and all working for an amazing family company, this helps make all the work and effort more than worthwhile.

It’s here!
Winter has found us 🥰⛄️❄️
The days go so fast when you’re kept busy.
Wolfmuvva and I have been transporting mountain guests to their lodges all day, it’s amazing who you bump into as well.
All the training, learning the locations of the lodges has paid off.
Game on!

The end of week 2
Wolfmuvva and I are more familiar with the lodges and have spent time in the freight depot and Leanne taught one co-worker how to drive a manual (in a classy 79 series ute) so she can do the garbage run in a manual vehicle soon.
No more snow to report and in the photos you’ll see how it’s currently being moved around.
Enjoy the photos and comments.
