One of the many people buried at St Bartholomew's Anglican Churce & Cemetery, Prospect, is Reginald Matthew Black.

Reginald was borin in 1916, the son of David and Lilly. He died on 17 June 1927 at the young age of 11 years and 3 months. The elderly citizens of Blacktown remembere him as a wild young lad who would give anything a try on a dare - or just out of simple curiosity.

On the evening of 'the incident', Reginald's parents arrived home a little later than usual, after a hard days work. On entering the family home, they called out to let the children know they had arrived home, but everything was extremely quiet, so they checked room by room.

When they entered the kitchen they saw Reginald's body lying under the kitchen table. Reginald's dad bent down to see what he was doing under there, and saw a gun lying beside him.

The finding of the Coroners Inquest held at Parramatta during the same month, was that Reginald was sitting holding a gun that exploded into his stomach, killing him immediately. His death was recorded as accidental.

One of the many people buried at St Bartholomew's Anglican Churce & Cemetery, Prospect, is Ivy Florence Beehag.

Ivy was born about 1890 and was the eldest child born to Samuel and Annie. Ivy had two brothers, Arthur and Samuel, and a sister Myrtle. The family lived at Seven Hills.

On the evening of 18 November, 1899, as 9 year old Ivy's father was leaving home, he placed a tin of wax flint on the mantle, cautioning Ivy to not touch it. Immediately after her father left the house, Ivy grabbed the flint. She fled the house, making for a summer house at the rear of the property. Sitting on the floor she began flicking the flint while her younger brother Arthur looked on in horror.

Suddenly the flint alighted and dropped into Ivy's lap, instantly setting her heavy clothing on fire. Her brother ran to let his father know what had occured.

Both father and son ran to give assistance to Ivy, and upon reaching the house, found Ivy standing on the verandah in dep shock. The only remaining clothing on her young body was her stockings. She called to her father "Dadda! Dadda! I am burnt" and bent to pull one of the stockings down her leg. As she did so, you can imagine what happened. Her father immediately sent to Parramatta for Dr Waugh. The doctor informed the family that Ivy was so severely burnt and traumatised that she felt no pain - one can only hope that was true.

Ivy succumbed to her injuries at around 6 o'clock that evening. She was laid to rest at St Bartholomew's cemetery.

Our last ghost hunt at Old Government House certainly didn’t disappoint — the energy was high from the moment we began.

During the Ganzfeld sessions, we had everything from heavy iron doors swinging shut to phantom hands brushing against guests. One participant asked the chef to close the oven, and almost immediately we heard the sound of a heavy metal door. People reported chairs shaking, the feeling of being tickled, shoulder taps, chills, and strange shifts in sound through their headphones. There was humming, old-style music, and even a gentleman in a hat who swore someone was playing with the back of it.

Temperature changes swept through the space, one guest tasted cinnamon out of nowhere, and a chatty mid-teen girl seemed very proud of her role in the house — she chattered away about breaking eggs and tripping in her dress. The name “Maria” came up repeatedly, along with the unmistakable sound of children running and laughing through the kitchen.

The Estes sessions were just as fascinating. We picked up knocks, wimpering, and repeated references to three teenagers, Governor Macquarie, and intriguing snippets like “last thing you wanna know” when asked about Elizabeth. Guests experienced shadow play, curtains moving, footsteps, and even a wardrobe door swinging open. The spirits weren’t shy either — calling people “vermin,” commenting on “sins,” and teasing with phrases like “hat smile” without revealing more.

Names came through often, especially “David,” along with a playful but slightly cheeky streak — swearing, jokes, and even repeated references to “daddy.” There were physical sensations of movement nearby, footsteps in doorways, and temperature drops. We ended the night with the spirits announcing, “We’re gonna leave soon… tea time.”

It was one of those nights where the atmosphere felt thick with history and personality — a reminder of why this location remains one of our most active.

This photo was taken at the moment the wardrobe door opened on its own. We’re still struggling to identify the mysterious hand captured in the shot. It appears to be wearing an older style shirt with a ruffled cuff — yet the lady in the photo had nobody standing on either side of her.

St Bartholomew’s Ghost Hunt – 2 August 2025

What an extraordinary night at St Bartholomew’s Church and Cemetery! The wild winter weather set the scene perfectly, with an electrical storm, booming thunder, and flashes of lightning making the experience even more atmospheric.

The evening began in the church with an EVP session, where loud bangs were heard and possible voices — a man and a little girl — seemed to come through.

The Ganzfeld sessions were especially active. Guests reported hearing an organ play Happy Birthday through the headphones, feelings of heaviness in the chest, waves of icy cold moving up their bodies, and even masks being pulled off. Bangs, dragging chairs, moaning, and giggling children’s voices were heard, along with sensations of being watched, poked, and touched. At one point, the cat ball on the altar chair lit up on its own.

In the hall, mirror scrying and portal sessions were equally compelling. Guests saw shadows moving in reflections, faces morphing, ageing, or even disappearing entirely. Voices — male, female, and children — came through the portal, with bursts of giggles and snippets of conversation. K2 metres spiked, and at one point a guest’s reflection changed dramatically in time with a spirit box giggle of “pirate eye”.

When the question was asked, “What games did you enjoy? Did you like Duck Duck Goose?” the portal responded with a whispered, drawn-out reply:
“Duck… duck… duck… duck…” — followed by a soft voice saying “Goose.”

It was a truly unforgettable night of stormy skies, intriguing activity, and incredible guests. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it such a memorable experience.

We can’t wait to get back there in September! If you haven’t been yet, you can grab your tickets here:

The loudest voices aren't necessarily the right ones. There are a lot of 'loud' personalities in the paranormal field all over the World. Their way is the 'right' way or so they will tell the World. And if you think differently? You’re either wrong, inexperienced, or the ultimate insult… jealous.

But here’s the truth: who cares what they think?
You aren’t here for them. You’re here for you.

For your curiosity.
For your passion.
For your search for answers, even if those answers are just more questions. There are SO many questions.

You don’t need permission to explore the unknown in your own way. You don’t need a platform, a following, or a flashy title. You just need an open mind, critical thinking, and to be authentically you.
