The 6th arrondissement is the Paris visitors' picture in their minds before arrival: sidewalk cafés overflowing onto cobbled lanes, jazz melodies floating from open windows, and impeccably stylish Parisians strolling with fresh baguettes under their arms. Somehow, everyone here exudes a natural elegance, whether browsing the market or sipping coffee.

This is where revolutionary minds once debated philosophy over espresso, where artists and writers drew endless inspiration, and where today’s visitors still seek that unmistakable Parisian charm—effortlessly glamorous yet understated.
Nestled on the Left Bank, the 6th is refined and romantic. From the literary heart of Saint-Germain-des-Prés to the serene beauty of the Luxembourg Gardens, this district captures the timeless Paris that travellers dream of long before they visit.

The Jardin du Luxembourg is one of Paris’s most magnificent green spaces. Covering 25 hectares, the gardens feature statues, fountains, vibrant flowerbeds, and tree-lined paths, all centred around the graceful Luxembourg Palace, which houses the French Senate. On sunny days, Parisians flock here to read by the fountains, sail tiny boats on the pond, or picnic in the iconic green chairs or on the sprawling back lawn.

Few Parisian neighbourhoods are as deeply tied to literature and philosophy as Saint-Germain-des-Prés. Historic cafés like Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore once hosted legends such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, and Pablo Picasso, who debated ideas over coffee in smoke-filled afternoons. Today, these iconic spots still hum with energy. Order a café crème or a hot chocolate, take a seat on the terrace, and enjoy the art of people-watching.

Shopping in Saint-Germain-des-Prés is quintessentially Parisian: elegant without being pretentious. High-end fashion boutiques sit alongside antique bookshops, artisanal chocolatiers, perfumeries filled with scents of cedar and orange blossom, and tiny vintage stores brimming with stylish finds. The streets invite leisurely exploration, with charming storefronts and hidden passages revealing beautifully curated treasures. Whether you’re after classic French fashion, handcrafted home goods, or unique keepsakes, you’ll find it here.

Tucked away just off Boulevard Saint-Germain, Cour du Commerce Saint-André is one of the arrondissement’s most enchanting hidden gems. Lined with wine bars and historic restaurants, including the famed Le Procope, the courtyard feels delightfully frozen in time. Once a haunt for revolutionaries and intellectuals, it’s now the perfect place for a relaxed lunch or a glass of wine.

The Ultimate Paris Itinerary for Every Generation

A romantic Paris honeymoon? Easy. A girls’ trip filled with wine tastings and Eiffel Tower photos. Effortless. But planning a Paris holiday that satisfies the whole family—from grandparents to grandchildren—is a real challenge.
If you are dreaming of a French capital getaway but struggling to make it enjoyable for everyone, we can help. While France is renowned for couples and friends’ trips, Paris offers experiences for all ages, from schoolchildren to seniors. Using a travel agency like France Tourism for your multigenerational journey lets you focus on bonding with family rather than stressing over activities. From teens to kids, parents to grandparents, here is our ultimate multigenerational Paris itinerary.

Why a Travel Agency Works for Multigenerational Travel
You might think you can manage everything after hours on Pinterest and reading guidebooks. But for truly exceptional multigenerational travel, we highly recommend a travel agency.
With a tour leader, you can enjoy quality time with your family instead of wrestling with foreign maps. Or, if you prefer, a private guide for specific tours can answer individual questions and ensure the experience delights everyone.
France Tourism also provides private drivers. No need to figure out the Paris metro, worry about mobile data, or search for parking. Our driver can take you directly to museums, restaurants, or landmarks. Choose one large vehicle for the whole group or several smaller ones for added flexibility.
Approach #1: One Destination, Two Custom Experiences
Louvre Visit: Fun for All Ages
At nearly 75,000 square metres, the Louvre offers something for every visitor. The best approach? Split into two groups: adults and children (with at least one adult chaperone).
Adults enjoy a guided "Highlights Tour", exploring iconic masterpieces like the Mona Lisa, Venus de Milo, Egyptian antiquities, and Islamic art, with fascinating stories from an expert guide.
Meanwhile, kids dive into an interactive scavenger hunt, using their booklets to uncover the museum’s hidden treasures – complete with a surprise gift at the end.

Approach #2: Paris Adventures Designed for Kids
Full-Day Private Paris Tour
Climb into a luxury vehicle and let your private driver whisk your family to the city’s most famous sights. Your exclusive tour includes stops at the grand Opera House, the prestigious Place Vendôme, and the historic Notre Dame Cathedral. Admire the Louvre’s stunning architecture and glass pyramids, and then visit the iconic Place de la Concorde.
End your tour on the Champs-Élysées, where you can marvel at the Arc de Triomphe and browse the boulevard’s shops. You will have free time for lunch—perhaps some delicious crêpes or classic poulet frites.
Afternoon Snack Adventure in Saint-Germain-des-Prés or Le Marais
In France, goûter—the traditional afternoon snack—is sacred. This walking tour through the stylish neighbourhoods of Saint-Germain-des-Prés or Le Marais offers a fun, tasty way to explore local history.
Discover the legends, traditions, and stories of Paris while sampling five regional sweets crafted by France’s top artisans, the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France.

Three Ways to Fall in Love with Burgundy
Burgundy, nestled in the heart of eastern France, perfectly encapsulates the nation’s romantic charm. The region unfolds as a stunning mosaic of vineyard-draped hillsides, ancient villages, and storied estates. Beyond its world-famous wines, Burgundy embodies a lifestyle deeply rooted in terroir, heritage, and artisanal dedication.
From oenological immersions and intimate dining to cultural discoveries and scenic expeditions, Burgundy offers countless unique experiences. Here are seven unforgettable ways to embrace the region’s authentic spirit.

A Culinary Journey through Burgundy’s Wines
Begin with an evening that blends wine education with a heart-warming homemade feast. The experience starts with a captivating introduction to Burgundy’s history and geology, revealing the foundations of its viticultural excellence. Next, savour a tasting of 12 remarkable wines, including prestigious Premier Crus and Grand Crus. Each glass invites you to discern subtle nuances and admire the craftsmanship behind these celebrated vintages. The evening concludes with a traditional Burgundian dinner, where each dish is thoughtfully designed to complement the wines and celebrate the region’s culinary legacy.

Panoramic Views and Local Flavours in Dijon
Climb to the top of Tour Philippe le Bon, a 46-metre-high historic tower, for breathtaking vistas of Dijon. At the summit, enjoy a private tasting of regional specialties. Sip on crisp local white wine, sample Dijon’s signature blackcurrant liqueur, or opt for fresh fruit juices, all paired with eight authentic appetisers. Do not miss the gougères—light, airy cheese puffs that embody Burgundian indulgence.

A Day in Burgundy’s Timeless Countryside
Step into the past with a private guided tour of the serene countryside, where history, spirituality, and tradition harmoniously converge. Start with a scenic drive through peaceful villages to a magnificent Cistercian abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage treasure and a marvel of medieval architecture.
Enjoy lunch at a charming local restaurant, then explore the picturesque town of Semur-en-Auxois, known for its medieval towers and winding lanes. The day ends in one of France’s most beautiful villages, celebrated for its abbey, delicate anise-flavoured sweets, and tranquil allure.

The 2028 Tour de France

The 115th edition of the Tour de France will kick off on Saturday, 24 June 2028, from Reims. The Grande Boucle will then cross the Grand Est region, featuring four stages in the departments of Marne, Ardennes, Meuse, and Moselle.

After two Grand Departs abroad—Barcelona this year and Edinburgh next year—the race will return to French soil for its 2028 edition.

Reims, Epernay, Verdun, Metz, and More
In addition to Reims, five other host cities have been selected: Épernay, Charleville-Mézières, Verdun, Metz, and Thionville. The Tour’s schedule will also be moved up in 2028 due to the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Organisers highlighted the diversity of landscapes and terrain for the riders. From the rolling hills of the Ardennes to the undulating roads of Champagne and the more rugged sections of Meuse and Moselle, the early stages could quickly see aggressive racing.
