We are busy improving public spaces and community areas across the City. Our goal is to create more quality green spaces for everyone to enjoy, while also making roads and pedestrian areas safer.

Construction is underway on several exciting projects, including:
💧 splashpads at Riverstone Swimming Centre and Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre
🚗 a new carpark and better recreation areas at Tallawong Reserve
🛹 multipurpose courts and picnic spots at Rosenthal Park
🏀 basketball half courts, a new play space and picnic furniture at Ashley Brown Reserve
🛝 new play space and landscaping improvements at Van Diemen Park
🚧 improved entry and public access at Schofields Park
🚦 local road upgrades in various parts of the city.

These improvements are being delivered as part of $273 million funding received from the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants program.

Second-hand marketplaces are a great way to turn quality pre-loved items into treasure and divert materials from landfill. 🛒

There are many online platforms for selling, swapping and giving away items. To learn how to safely navigate these, join our FREE selling online workshop on Wednesday 17 September.
📅 More information at: https://www.blacktown.nsw.gov.au/Events-and-activities/Webinar-Selling-online-Sep-2025

We’re getting ready for red-lidded bin swaps!

From September to December we will be delivering the 140 litre red-lidded bins and removing 240 litre red-lidded bins.

What will we do:
🔴Households will receive the new red lidded bin 2 days before their bin collection day.
🔴 On their next bin collection day, we will empty and remove your 240 litre red lidded bin.
🔴 If you selected the large waste service we will SMS you to let you know when we are going to sticker your bin on your collection day.

What you need to do:
🔴Wait to use the 140 litre red-lidded bin until we remove your 240 litre red-lidded bin
🔴 Leave your 240 litre red-lidded bin out on each collection day until 3pm until we have removed it.
🔴If you selected the large waste service we will sticker your 240-litre red-lidded bin, and leave it right where it is! Leave your bin out on each collection day until 3pm.

For those who selected the small waste service, we’re swapping the 140 litre red-lidded bin to the 80 litre red-lidded bin from January 2026.

From September, visit blacktown.nsw.gov.au/delivery to see when your bin will be swapped out.

The delivery of the new food and garden waste bin follows the NSW Government mandate for councils to introduce a food and garden waste bin to households by 2030.

This project is delivered with the support of the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
