‘Joining the 2022 Premier’s Anzac Memorial Scholarship tour was an incredibly valuable experience as a teacher of Australian History. It has already led to changes in how I will teach the ideas of commemoration and memorialisation in my classroom.’

Tom was one of three Accompanying Teachers who participated in the Scholarship’s recent two-week study tour, along with 20 students from across NSW.

Applications are currently open for NSW high school History teachers to join the 2023 tour. This unique experience provides an unparalleled opportunity for professional development and the chance to support students in immersive, hands-on, and site-specific learning.

Over the years, many of our school groups, when touring the Ypres Salient, heard about the “Brothers in Arms” memorial project, and some of our generous travellers even contributed to the memorial.

Excitingly, the statue has now been completed and was unveiled earlier this month by some touring Australians. Hopefully some Australian schools will get the chance to visit it soon!

I am posting this photo to congratulate you on your very beautiful sculpture Louis Laumen!
