October is National Safe Work Month, and a good time to talk about our safety message, O.N.E. Safe Workplace.

“I will Own, Notice & Engage on safety in my role”.

Own, Notice & Engage are the core principals that have helped us to become one safe workplace. Central to our safety culture at Degnan, the message is simple, relatable, and has become part of the daily conversation by asking, are we a safe workplace, and, am I doing my part?

O.N.E. Safe Workplace is not just words. It is a visible, tangible and measurable commitment from everyone at Degnan to ensure workplace safety is our number one priority. It is our absolute commitment to the health and safety of our employees, subcontractors, customers, and community.

Degnan invited Kahi Puru to share his story with us on our WestConnex project at St Peters. His life-changing workplace injury stopped us all in our tracks, and drove home a message that will stick with us for a long, long time - a workplace injury impacts everyone around us, especially our families and loved ones, no matter the age or experience.

ONE Safe Workplace is a commitment to put safety over productivity and a promise from everyone involved in a Degnan project, that we'll be coming home.

Degnan continue to expand our capabilities to support large transport infrastructure projects in NSW. Our team is excited to announce that we will be working with CPB Dragados Samsung Joint Venture (CDSJV) to construct a new multi-million-dollar Operations Centre for the WestConnex New M5 motorway, with completion due in 2019.

We are pleased to announce that Transport for NSW has awarded Degnan the Design and Construction of Edgecliff Station Easy Access Upgrade. The project presents a great opportunity for our business to further support the NSW Government in its commitment to improve transport infrastructure. We are excited to continue our long history of delivering rail infrastructure for the people of NSW. Work will be commencing in the coming months with completion due in 2019. Thank you to all involved.

Degnan are pleased to announce we will be constructing a new Manipulator Maintenance & Process Technician Workshop building at ANSTO. The Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) conducts research and development in relation to a broad range of nuclear science and technology activities, and Degnan are looking forward to constructing this necessary infrastructure.

We are taking things to the next level … Degnan have commenced lift upgrades at Sutherland and Wynyard Stations and will begin work at Bankstown, Strathfield and Milsons Point Stations soon. We are looking forward to working with Sydney Trains and the community during these upgrades to the existing Rail Network.

Enhancements and refurbishments to the rail network through the Station Refresh Program has given many train stations a fresh new look, including Punchbowl Station (pictured), which Degnan completed earlier this year. Breathing life into the existing stations is as important as building new infrastructure in terms of longevity and customer experience.

Commuters will now be protected from the sun and rain at Glenfield Station thanks to the successful delivery of the new station canopy. Thanks to Sydney Trains and our team for another great project.
