🧭 Ten years in Mongolia taught us one thing before anything else: the map lies.
Distances that look manageable swallow whole days. Roads dissolve into wild off roading. Weather rewrites the plan before breakfast. The most remote ger camp might be the one you’d cross a continent for, while the comfortable option could quietly cost you the very place you came to feel.
So what do you do with knowledge like that?
You stop asking how much you can fit in. You start asking what’s worth the drive, and which five extra hours add nothing at all.
Remote doesn’t mean poorly considered. Simple can be the price of reaching something extraordinary. Comfort can exist without compromise. Both are true, sometimes in the same valley.
Then comes the lesson that changes everything: there isn’t one Mongolia traveller.
Some want to push deep into the Taiga, sleep simply and earn their way to communities few outsiders ever meet. Others want the landscapes, the nomadic culture, that enormous sense of space, with a gentler pace and somewhere good to return to at night.
Neither is better. Just different journeys.
Which brings us to what’s next. Discovering the Land of Nomads stays. A brand new journey for May and September is taking shape. Our Naadam journey? It’s about to look different, because “we’ve always run it” is a habit, not a reason.
For us, product development comes down to one question: knowing what we know now, would we build this the same way?
Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes a decade tells you otherwise.
