Great event hosted by Visit USA Organisation Australia, promoting the USA as a desirable destination to the Australian market. More than 70 exhibitors gathered to introduce the latest trends in the US travel industry.

MACAO was a Portuguese colony from the establishment of the first official Portuguese settlement of Macau in 1557 to its handover to China in 1999. Macau, same as Hong Kong, operates under One Country, Two Systems. Under the principle, Macao & Hong Kong could continue to have its own governmental system, legal, economic and financial affairs.
It's a blend of predominantly Chinese culture with some Portuguese architectural heritage. Portugese and Chinese are official languages, however Chinese is widely spoken (signage is in both languages).

Australian citizens can get a visa on arrival for up to 30 days stay and EU citizens for up to 90 days (90 days visa free for Hong Kong).

The most beautiful views of Hong Kong from Victoria Peak.
The most iconic way to get there is The Peak Tram, one of the world's oldest and most famous railways. It rises to almost 400 metres and it's very steep. I am very much used to the steep roads and still I was taken by surprise how steep this was 😊
Since it's Lunar New Year celebration, there are long queues everywhere, literally queue after queue. We had to wait for over 2 hours to get to the top but it was so worth the wait. View is simply breathtaking. You can get the best views from the Sky Terrace 428 and I would also strongly recommend taking a walk along Lugard Road that goes around the mountain with spectacular views.
For those that want to enjoy city skyline on the way back, there is a walking trail that takes you to the bottom and it takes approximately an hour (be mindful as it's very steep and also some random animals could pop up 😱)

LANTAU ISLAND - heritage and historical part of Hong Kong
Only an hour - hour and a half from Hong Kong (depends if you take a train, bus or a taxi - taxi is the most convenient and pricewise not much more expensive than a train). Once you get to get to the island, cable car is a must to get to the Big Buddha. Cable car offers spectacular views of Hong Kong. There is a small village that caters all tourists needs. Big Buddha is the main attraction, and it's definitely worth visiting along with the temple, however views from the top were my favourite.

Next stop:TAI O fishing village
There is a bus service from Big Buddha to the fishing village, but I would recommend return cable car ride and then get a bus to the village. Taxi is very expensive in this area, approximately 80 AUD one-way, while bus is 5AUD per person.
Bus rides, same as taxis, are very wild on this route (at least from my experience), and there are long waiting queues (this could be due to Lunar New Year).
Only street food is available in the village (or maybe one restaurant). Keep this in mind if you're not into street food dining 😄
Overall, the whole experience of getting to the Tai O village and back is not simple, and this might not be for everyone. However, I absolutely loved it, and I would go back anytime 😊
