MUSSELS IN BRUSSELS! 💪🏼

The arms were flexed, the moules frites were devoured and our day trip to Brussels was officially underway.

A quick French and Flemish lesson over lunch, and suddenly the whole gang was now bi…lingual. Santé Prost!

Then our fabulous local specialist Peter showed us the city’s highlights, with a little Hermes Holidays gift for everyone along the way: chocolates from Neuhaus, the inventor of the Belgian praline. YUM!

After that, we set everyone loose to shop, sip cocktails and eat even more chocolate.

Culture, cocktails, chocolate and a little credit card damage.

Brussels, you were an absolute cracker. 🇧🇪

D***s, Bikes & Dutch Delights 🇳🇱

We wanted our gang to experience a bit more of the Netherlands than Amsterdam, so we jumped on our e-bikes and headed 55km into the countryside, through tiny villages, along the d***s and into Volendam and Monnickendam.

There was a windmill to climb, a very necessary refreshment stop in Volendam and then lunch with our mate Steve at his farm.

Steve makes cheese, whittles clogs and brews his own beer. Apparently those long Dutch winters give a man plenty of time to collect hobbies.

He also fed us a proper Dutch lunch made from his grandmother’s recipes. We’d already burnt the calories, so it basically didn’t count.

Fresh air, cold beer, homemade food, questionable cycling skills and a whole lot of Dutch countryside.

Now THAT’S how we like to do Holland.
