Last night I saw the film F1 with Brad Pitt. I can’t say I’m a fan of Formula 1 car racing, not like I am of tennis for example, but I have to say I was on the edge of my seat for much of the film. It was a very exciting and thrilling film and it made me think
to see it live would be amazing!

Well, that’s where Destination Artisans comes in. If you are a fan or not even of Formula 1, the atmosphere would be so exciting and seeing it live, you would end up being a fan for sure. The wonders and imagination of France. Just when you think everything has been thought of, someone comes up with something else to do.

If you are looking for something unique and different to do, then look no further than in Lyon. I was lucky enough to create my own scarf.

At the beginning of the workshop everyone is given a large square piece of silk fabric, some inspiring textile designs to choose from, pots of colours to match the design, and a paint brush. At first it was a bit daunting as I have no creative bone in my body where painting is concerned and was certain I was going to ruin the whole thing. However with the help of the designers who come around and give advice, I actually managed to produce something quite lovely, much to my surprise! The 2 hour workshop passed by so quickly and not once did I feel rushed. It was such a wonderful experience to do something not only original, but something I am able to keep and remember.

Once the session is over, the scarves are taken and ‘completed’ by fixing the colours and washing the scarves. The hems are also made and then the scarf is posted to you. A totally unique experience and a great souvenir.

Another wonderful museum in Nice is the Museum of Fine Arts, set in a former private residence which dates back to the late 19th century. The building could do with a renovation, but it’s still very beautiful and a small exhibition. If it’s your 2nd time to Nice, it’s well worth a visit.

Another of the wonderful museums in Nice is the Chagall museum. Marc Chagall was drawn to Nice as were so many painters for the light. There is also a lovely café here in such a picturesque spot. Worth visiting when next in Nice.

Nice and the Côte d’Azur have many wonderful art museums and one of the most famous is the Henri Matisse museum.

Pétanque is widely played in southern France, in sleepy villages, in shaded parks, played by groups of retired men getting together for an afternoon of fun. This park was next to the Matisse museum in Nice, so I couldn’t help but take a couple of photos. If you have clients coming to France with the family, we can certainly add an afternoon of pétanque. It is so much fun. 🇫🇷 🇫🇷

Socca is a traditional lunch snack, fast food from Nice. Made from chickpea flour and olive oil, the stand out place to try it is at Teresa’s bakery. She is the socca queen in Nice, however warning, the line in front of her shop is always long ! It is eaten hot, newly baked and sprinkled with pepper- delicious! Besides Chez Theresa, there are many places to try it in Nice. Enjoy!!

Just off the city of Cannes are the Islands of Lerins. You can catch the ferry to either Ile Sainte Marguerite, the larger of the two, or Ile Saint Honorât. Enjoy Lunch at La Tonnelle, it was wonderful. You can walk around Saint Honorât, see the Abbey, sample their wines, swim, relax and slow down for a day.
