Aswan Sights and River cruise delights!

We sailed 4 nights on the Nile River from Luxor to Aswan, we saw some incredible sights along the way and also got to check out some pretty impressive hotels where I could book you your next stay in Egypt!

We explored different categories of River cruise ships, which all have something unique to offer.

The Hilton Aswan - stunning Nile view rooms and and the view from the pool is just 👌

The Cataract Hotel - Built in 1899 under the direction of Thomas Cook, the first commercial travel agent!!
Many famous travellers throughout the years have stayed there - Agatha Christie was in residence at the hotel when she wrote 'Death on the Nile' and you can feel where she got her inspiration from with these views!

☀️ Edfu and Abu Simbel ☀️

Edfu or Horus Temple is the most preserved temple in all of Egypt.

We flew from Aswan to Abu Simbel and returned to our ship in one day to check out the remarkable temple which was moved to its new location due to being flooded by Lake Nasser.

Egypt you are still surprising me!

Day 4 - Luxor, we checked out more amazing sights, visiting Ancient Egyptian Tombs was not something I ever thought I would do, what an experience!

Day 3:
✈️ Cairo to Luxor

We had an early start to move to our next exciting destination, Luxor.

We visited the Karnak and Luxor Temples, more amazing massive buildings and structures that continue to amaze me!

Listen to the call to prayer at the Luxor temple.

We are now travelling down the Nile River on a cruise for the next 4 nights and will be checking out more incredible sights along the way.

An update for the new ETIA and dual European citizens if you are travelling to Europe later this year

The European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) is due to be implemented toward the end of 2026. Once implemented, travellers visiting any of the 30 participating European countries visa-free will need to get an ETIAS travel authorisation. The ETIAS is different to the European Entry/Exit System (EES).

Dual citizens of participating European countries or Ireland will not be eligible for an ETIAS travel authorisation. If you’re a dual citizen, once the system is implemented you will not be able to enter any participating countries using your Australian passport. You will have to enter using the passport from your other country of citizenship.

If you don’t have a passport from your other country of citizenship, apply for one soon. Application wait times in some countries can be very long.

Japan continued ..

Osaka
Fun vibes in this electric city! I absolutely loved my time here — from the buzzing streets to the incredible food and nightlife. I already know I’ll be back again soon.

Hiroshima
A truly meaningful and pleasant experience in this historic city.
Viewing the ruins of the dome, walking through the Peace Memorial Park and museum was incredibly moving and somber.
It’s a place that really makes you pause and reflect — the world could definitely use more of Japan’s message and perspective on peace right now.

Miyajima Island was very cute, I only wish I had a longer stay, great food markets and friendly deer strolling the streets and to tick off another UNESCO World heritage site Itsukushima Shrine was very special.

A flight home with Japan Airlines and a treat of flying Premium Economy back to Melbourne - see if you can spot Mount Fuji as we flew out on dusk.

Japan you were fabulous, cant wait to see you again 🇯🇵

Mt Fuji + Kyoto

After busy Tokyo it was nice to experience the countryside, although the weather wasn't amazing and Fuji was hiding we enjoyed driving around little towns, eating Tempura Udon and then a relaxing Onsen, she eventually smiled at us on our way to Kyoto.
