Feedback. ideas and suggestions sought for the 2027 Blackall-Tambo visitor guide.

Planning is now underway for the 2027 Blackall-Tambo Visitor Guide, and we're inviting local businesses, tourism operators and photographers to help shape next year's edition.

If you've ever welcomed a visitor, recommended a place to explore, shared a local story or captured a great photo of our region, we'd love to hear from you.

Following the launch of our refreshed 2026 Visitor Guide, we're now looking ahead to make the next edition even better.

A key focus for 2027 is encouraging visitors to stay another night in the Blackall-Tambo Region. We're seeking ideas, content and feedback on:

• Tours, attractions and local experiences
• Camping and caravanning opportunities
• Accommodation and itineraries that encourage longer stays
• Town and regional mapping improvements
• Events worth travelling for
• Business listings and advertising opportunities
• New photography that captures the character, people and places of our region

We're also keen to hear your thoughts on how Council can better support local tourism, what we're doing well, and where we can improve.

📸 Local photographers are encouraged to submit images for consideration in future tourism marketing and publications.

Council’s Sport and Recreation Officer Natalie Dendle will be visiting Tambo on Wednesday 15 July at 1:30pm for a community discussion about sport, recreation and community activities in Tambo.

This is an opportunity for residents to share their ideas, provide feedback and help identify what activities and opportunities the community would like to see available for all ages and abilities.

The discussion will help shape future sport and recreation programs in Tambo, ensuring they reflect the needs and interests of the whole community.

Our local Post Office MATTERS!

A leaked Australia Post document has exposed a plan that could fundamentally change the future of Licensed Post Offices across Australia.

For regional, rural and remote communities, this isn't just about collecting parcels. Our local post offices are trusted community hubs where people access banking, bill payments, government services and essential support.

The Liberal and Nationals secured a Senate inquiry to uncover the truth behind Australia Post's plans to strip back services, convert Licensed Post Offices into other retail formats, or reduce them to parcel-only outlets.

I'm deeply concerned that communities with the fewest services could be the first targeted.

Regional Australians deserve better. They deserve transparency, genuine consultation and a commitment to keeping essential services in the communities that rely on them most.

If your local post office matters to you, now is the time to have your say. The Senate inquiry is accepting submissions until 7 August 2026

Join us in Blackall and be a part of locally driven action on Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) in Central West Queensland. Following the first ECEC Action Forum in Longreach in May, we're heading to Blackall 3-4 August to build on those discussions and create a clear path of action.

What childcare does your family actually need, what do they current use and what is the gap costing you? That's the simple question asked by the survey, and one with significant consequences.

This region-wide survey is a joint initiative of the RAPAD Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Alliance and The Future Care Project, open to the RAPAD region including Barcaldine, Barcoo, Blackall-Tambo, Boulia Shire Council, Diamantina, Longreach and Winton.

The information from the survey will be valuable to our communities as we drive our advocacy efforts for fit for purpose childcare policy to meet the needs of regional families and providers.

This is a key focus of the RAPAD ECEC Alliance and will empower our councils’ actions into the future and help drive change for all rural, regional and remote communities.
