A Heartfelt THANK YOU from the Rotary Club of Taree on Manning

In the wake of the recent devastating floods, we’ve been truly moved by the kindness of our wider community. People from outside our area have spontaneously reached out to our club to donate — including those who simply stopped by the riverbank over the years for lunch when passing through or have stayed in the area on holidays — and felt compelled to support our locals in need. Your generosity has been nothing short of amazing.

Thanks to your incredible support, every dollar raised will go directly into the hands of locals who’ve lost everything and need a real boost in the coming weeks and months. Your donations are bringing hope, comfort, and practical help when it’s needed most.

A huge thank-you also goes to our friends at the Rotary Club of Taree for joining forces with us to make this support happen.
Together, we are stronger and better able to serve those in need.

From all of us at Rotary Club of Taree on Manning — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

TOGETHER, WE CAN LIFT EACH OTHER UP

Our beautiful Manning community is hurting — again. So many of us have friends, neighbours, and loved ones who’ve been severely affected by these devastating floods. We’ve stood together through tough times before, and now it’s time to do it again.

The Rotary Club of the Manning is launching a Flood Appeal to support those in our region who need a helping hand right now. We are working in close collaboration with other Rotary and local service clubs and, of course, with the community we love and serve.

You’ve seen us in action over the years. You know how deeply we care and how directly we ensure your support reaches those who need it most — in the most practical and meaningful ways.

We also want to honour the wonderful work being done by other local charities. Please donate to the one you feel most comfortable with. Every act of generosity counts, and every dollar helps rebuild lives.

If you feel called to support Rotary’s Flood Appeal, we promise your kindness will stay right here in the Manning Valley — helping locals, families, and friends get back on their feet.

Please like, share, and spread the word. Let’s show once again just how strong our community spirit is.

Message from the Rotary District 9660 Governor Bruce George:

As communities across New South Wales face one of the most devastating flood emergencies in recent memory, we are once again called to act with compassion and urgency.
In just two days, parts of the state have received four months’ worth of rain, triggering flash floods that have inundated homes, cut off entire towns, and tragically claimed lives. Over 50,000 residents have been warned to evacuate or prepare for isolation, with major flooding affecting areas such as Taree, Wingham, Dungog, and the Mid North Coast.

Emergency services are stretched thin, conducting hundreds of rescues while many residents remain stranded. The full scale of the disaster is still unfolding, and the need for coordinated support is growing by the hour.

Rotary District 9660 is mobilising to assist affected communities. Disaster coordinators are being appointed, and collaboration with local authorities is underway. As with the Queensland response, mental health support will be a critical focus in the recovery phase.

How You Can Help:

There are 3 trusted ways to contribute:

1. District 9660 Disaster Fund Account
(For immediate use by clubs and districts AND personal donations that do not require to be tax deductible)

Account Name: Rotary District 9660
BSB: 082798
Account Number: 599 583 002

2. RAWCS Flood appeal is tax deductible - donations go to the general pool and clubs can apply for the funding to use in the affected communities
https://donations.rawcs.com.au/33-2023-24

3. Rotary Foundation Disaster Response Fund
(Tax-deductible in Australia – ideal for individual donations, in support of the Disaster Response Grant application that is being prepared by the district)
DONATE Hhttps://my.rotary.org/en/donate

Your generosity will directly support those in need, helping to provide emergency supplies, shelter, and long-term recovery assistance. (You can specify in your donation, where/which community you want your donation to go)

Thank you all, across our region, for standing with our Australian communities during this time of crisis.

PM for any inquiries....

Our Hearts Are With You

To our friends, neighbours, and fellow community members across the NSW East Coast – our hearts go out to everyone affected by the current major flood events.

We are deeply sorry for those who have lost their homes, possessions, or livelihoods during this devastating time. We know the road ahead may feel overwhelming, but please know you are not alone.

Rotary has always stood with the community in times of hardship – and this time is no different. What many may not see is the quiet but determined effort happening behind the scenes. Our members are already coming together, brainstorming the most effective ways to provide support where it’s needed most.

Please rest assured, we are here for you and we will continue to update you as our plans to assist unfold.

You are in our thoughts, and as always, we remain committed to serving and supporting our community with compassion and care.

Help Rotary support flood victims in western Queensland

Following record-breaking rainfall, western Queensland is being inundated by the worst floods to hit the region in fifty years, with more rain forecast for the next few days.

Hundreds of residents have been forced to evacuate, thousands of homes are at risk and farmers are losing substantial amounts of stock, significantly impacting their families and livelihoods.

The full scale of this situation is still unfolding, but it is expected to be severe.

Districts 9620 and 9560 are working together to support impacted communities. They have already appointed a disaster coordinator, conducted an initial needs assessment, and contacted state and local government authorities to collaborate. Addressing mental health issues will likely become a key focus of their efforts following the disaster.

How you can help

There are two ways you can support these efforts and be sure that the funds will help directly:

Donate to the District 9560 Disaster Fund Account (NO tax deductibility, therefore suitable for club and district donations, for immediate funding availability) - BSB 633000 and Account Number 186414595

and/or

Donate to the Rotary Foundation Disaster Response Fund (WITH tax deductibility in Australia, therefore suitable for individuals, in support of the Disaster Response Grant application that is being prepared by the districts) - DONATE THROUGH THIS LINK: https://my.rotary.org/en/donate

Thank you kindly for your consideration.

and were made for surfing, fishing and hopefully soon for bike riding. That's the call from the community for a bike trail linking the two towns along the old rail line. Over 80 riders participated in last May's Rotary Club of Taree On Manning May's Bike-A-Thon for the trail and the Club is continuing to work hard in its advocacy for the project on behalf of the community.

As a kid living in Harrington I certainly took my life into my own hands riding out to the beach. As an adult I walked the road as part of my 75km charity fundraiser last September and not much had changed. It's time for a proper bike trail and one that explores the history and flora of the area.

So it was fantastic to catch up with Rhonda, Monika and Karl to discuss the community's vision and plan, what it will mean for the area and what is needed to make it a reality.

The project has my 100% support and I am already on the case for funding as Dr David Gillespie MP has been. Let's get this done. Harrington Hotel Harrington & Surrounds Business & Community Assoc. I am pleased to announce that if elected, a Liberal/Nationals Coalition Government will provide $300,000 for early work to establish the long-awaited to Bike Path.

The local community has called for this infrastructure for decades and it's time to get it moving. Not only will the bike path provide a safe route for local bike riders and walkers, it will also be a fabulous tourist attraction showing off the history and flora of the area. This is a genuine long-term investment in the lifestyle and liveability of this beautiful part of the coast.

Today's announcement is the direct result of people power and I want to thank the locals involved in advocacy for the project over many years. I particularly want to acknowledge the work of members of the Rotary Club of Taree On Manning for their efforts to build momentum for the project with last year's Bike-a-Thon and petition.

As the NSW Nationals Candidate for Lyne and a former Harrington resident, I am pleased to be able to support the community with this funding commitment and so pleased to join local residents in Harrington today to make the announcement.

The project will enable work to be undertaken to get the project "shovel-ready" and hopefully beyond.
