From last Sunday night in Eagle River, Alaska. I had to hike a mile to catch this shot around 1am. Enjoy!

Happy Alaska Day!

Alaska Day is a legal holiday in the state of Alaska, observed on October 18th. It is the anniversary of the formal transfer of the Territory of Alaska from Russia to the United States, which occurred on Friday, October 18, 1867. 🇺🇸

I love Alaska! I can’t imagine living anywhere else. ❤️

McCarthy in the Wrangle-St. Elais National Park is a hidden gem in Alaska. To experience a Northern Lights show such as this one whilst there, makes it even more special. Great photo Allan Long.

Spent three days down in McCarthy with the hopes of catching the Northern Lights over Kennecott Mine. On September 6th, I stood up at the mine from 10:30ish until 4:30 in the morning. The lights showed up around 2:30 and were on and off the rest of the night. It was the only day I had clear skies. The rest of the time it was socked in with clouds and rain. Hope you enjoy!

If you are travelling in Alaska mid August I recommend heading down to Alyeska Resort (40 minutes drive south of Anchorage) for the Blueberry Festival.

After a two year hiatus, our signature Blueberry Festival is back in 2022! Join us on August 13 & 14 for live music, beer and wine garden, artisan vendors, pie eating contests, and of course, blueberry picking! More details to come.

If your itinerary includes visiting Talkeetna, which it should, take a flight with these great pilots. I recommend a landing at Denali base camp, you wont forget the experience.

A photo taken by one of our pilots today. Foraker, Hunter, and Denali ~peak~ing out above the clouds. You never know what those ☁️ could be hiding!

When driving along Turnagain Arm make sure you take time to stop and look for Beluga Whales. One of the best drives in Alaska.

Anchorage city limit is Portage. I mean Wow! These cars parked along the highway are for the spring Hooligan fishing 🎣 on the Turnagain Arm which also means Beluga whales will be seen chasing the Hooligan.
