Our School:
Our goal is to ensure that your children are balanced, happy, and best-placed to succeed in the future. We are a well-resourced school that combines the latest facilities with professional and dedicated teaching staff. Alongside assisting them in their faith journey and achieving outstanding educational standards, we strive to give our students every opportunity in performing arts, mus

ic, sports and extra-curricular activity. A nurturing place:
We are a school community where a friendly, trusting collaboration between principal, parish priest, teachers and parents is fostered to enable every individual to develop. We are blessed with a dedicated and caring staff who have created a loving Christian environment. In this nurturing atmosphere learning is enhanced and when the children graduate, they have their Catholic faith and the academic skills to guide them successfully through their high-school years. Learning:
At Our Lady Star of the Sea we believe that children learn best:

In a climate of trust and mutual respect where teachers, children and parents inspire and encourage each other

When there is time to reflect on their personal, academic, social and spiritual journey

In a nurturing environment where they are actively engaged in a range of opportunities that are purposeful and challenging

When activities are enjoyable and offered in a safe comfortable and secure place where children feel valued

When there is a diverse range of teaching/learning experiences that will enable the children to achieve their full potential.

In week 5, our school community came together to celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady Star of the Sea, a special day that honours our patron and the values that guide us each day.

Led by our dedicated Junior Youth Ministry, each class participated in a meaningful liturgy, spent time in quiet reflection and laid flowers at the statue of Mary as a symbol of love, gratitude and prayer.

Students also received a commemorative bookmark or sticker to mark this important occasion in the life of our school and parish community.

Moments like these remind us of the strong faith foundation that connects us as a community and the special place Mary holds in the story of Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Thank you to our Junior Youth Ministry students and staff who helped make the day so memorable. 💙

📚 OLSS joins National Simultaneous Storytime 2026! 🦘

OLSS students joined thousands of children across Australia for National Simultaneous Storytime, one of the country’s most loved annual reading events.

Together, we shared this year’s story, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd, illustrated by Jake Minton and published by Little Book Press.

Students cheered on Luna Roo as she discovered her inner strength on the field in this energetic underdog story about courage, resilience and believing in yourself.

What a joyful reminder of the power of stories and the important role our libraries play in nurturing a lifelong love of reading. 💙

Year 6 Canberra Adventure✨

In week 5, our Year 6 students set off on an unforgettable educational tour of Australia’s National Capital, deepening their understanding of our nation’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

Across the trip, students explored a range of significant national sites and learning experiences, including Mount Ainslie, the Museum of Australian Democracy, the National Electoral Education Centre, Parliament House and the House of Representatives, the Australian Institute of Sport, the National Capital Exhibition, the Australian War Memorial, the National Dinosaur Museum and Questacon.

The excursion brought classroom learning to life, giving students the opportunity to learn through real-world experiences while building independence, responsibility and collaboration.

A huge thank you to Mrs Winser, Mr Coote, Mrs Gray, Mr Spake and Ms Pymble for accompanying our students and supporting them throughout the trip.

What a wonderful way to explore, learn and grow together! 💙

We are ALL IN 💛🖤❤️

This National Reconciliation Week, we recognise the importance of listening, learning and walking together with respect.

Today we captured Kindergarten and Year 2 beginning their morning with an Acknowledgement of Country.

At OLSS, this meaningful practice helps our students build understanding, connection and respect as part of their everyday learning.

Sound on to hear our students share their Acknowledgement of Country.

On 26 May, we acknowledge National Sorry Day, a day of reflection, respect and remembrance across our education communities.

National Sorry Day honours the strength and resilience of Stolen Generations Survivors and acknowledges the lasting impacts of policies that led to the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities and Country.

It is a day that calls us to truth-telling and understanding, recognising that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment, grounded in listening, learning and walking together with respect.

Across our education system, we pause to reflect, learn and engage in conversations that deepen understanding and strengthen our collective commitment to reconciliation.
We pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past and present, and to the continuing connection to land, waters and culture.

🌊 Caring for our Coast, One Choice at a Time 🌿

This term, OLSS and the ELC were excited to welcome 1Coast for a fun and engaging incursion all about recycling, waste management and sustainability on the Central Coast.

This wonderful learning opportunity was proudly championed by our SRC, who continue to lead the way in encouraging positive action and care for our school and local environment.

Students explored how the choices we make each day can help keep our beautiful coast clean, learning more about what happens to our waste, how to sort items correctly, and why reducing litter and landfill matters.

Thank you to 1Coast for visiting OLSS and helping our students understand how small actions can make a big difference in caring for our common home and protecting the Central Coast for the future.
