Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Had a tour today and next stop was Poi Kalon which is an Islamic religious complex. The complex consists of three parts, the Kalan Mosque, the Kalan Minaret and the Mir-i-Arab Madrasah. More beautiful decorative buildings.

Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Had a tour today and next stop was the Ark Citadel. It is an ancient massive fortress originally built between the 5th and 6th centuries AD, it served as a heavily defended city housing the royal palace, Zoroastrian temples, and a mint. At its peak, the fortress housed over 3,000 people and included a royal harem, throne room, treasury, and a notorious dungeon. The fortress suffered severe damage in 1920 during the Russian Civil War when the Red Army bombed the citadel.

Bukhara, Uzbekistan. Had a tour today and left the hotel early at 8am. Mostly a walking tour. We visited the Mausoleum of the Samanids - one of the oldest surviving buildings in Central Asia. Boloi Hauz Mosque was a lovely active mosque built in the 18th century. It was Friday so they were setting up for prayers and couldn’t go in.
