What a way to complete a marathon – on an African Safari! 🦁🐘🦏🐆🐃

I have travelled to many places around the world, but this was truly something special.

No shops. No commercialism. No fences. Nothing between us and the wildlife.

For four incredible days we were immersed in nature, experiencing Africa exactly as it should be.

We watched breathtaking sunrises paint the sky in colours that almost didn’t seem real. We saw the Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo – along with zebras, giraffes, antelope and countless other animals in their natural habitat.

Our wonderful guide, Phineas quietly shared his knowledge and passion for the bush, helping us discover so much more than just wildlife.

Every game drive revealed something new. Every walk around the lodge brought another surprise. Elephants wandered past our Safari Truck and also our accommodation. Zebras grazed nearby. The air felt fresher, the stars seemed brighter and life somehow felt a little simpler.

The landscapes, the terrain, the colours, the wildlife, the vegetation and the constantly changing temperatures made it feel as though we were living inside a painting. Around every corner was another magical moment waiting to unfold.

Magic. Magic. Magic.

Having now experienced both Cape Town Marathon and a South African Safari, I honestly believe that once Cape Town Marathon becomes a World Marathon Major, it will be one of the most sought-after marathon experiences in the world.

Not just because of the marathon itself, but because of everything that surrounds it. The culture. The people. The scenery. The wildlife. The heart and soul of South Africa.

It is simply unlike anything else.

Ok… so I may have done a little thing 😂🏃‍♀️🇿🇦

I ran London Marathon at the end of April with Lachy — his first marathon — while hosting over 100 Adventure Time Travel guests… then TWO days later started walking the Camino with another 24 Adventure Time Travel guests 😅

180kms later, sore, exhausted and honestly wondering how on earth my body was still moving… I was absolutely convinced there was NO WAY I was running Cape Town Marathon.

Then somehow… Lachy decided last minute he wanted to come to Cape Town too ❤️

At the very last minute we were able to get him an entry into Cape Town Marathon… and honestly… how could I possibly not run it with him?!

There was just no way I was letting that moment pass by ❤️

So somehow… 4 weeks after London Marathon… I found myself standing on another start line in Cape Town 😂 with another 20 Adventure Time Travel guests and Lachy!

And wow… Cape Town Marathon was pure magic.

I honestly felt peaceful the entire run. The music, the people, the colour, the crowds, the beauty of Cape Town… but more than anything, it was the soul of Africa that filled my heart ❤️

This marathon felt so much bigger than a race. It was joy, spirit, gratitude and perspective all wrapped into one unforgettable experience.

Thank you to those that helped make this happen 🙏 Definitely one of my favourite marathons I have ever done.

So many laughs.
Some tears.

Beautiful old friendships deepened and wonderful new friendships formed ❤️

New experiences, new cultures, lots of learnings, unforgettable moments and memories I know will stay with me forever

Very little sleep 😂
A very tired body 😅
But a very full and grateful heart.

A reminder that we are all capable of so much more than we think we are ❤️

(Although my legs may currently disagree 😅)

And before anyone asks… no 😂 I don’t make my kids run marathons… I think they just think it is normal! 🤣

Thank you South Africa — we feel so incredibly blessed to have experienced your people, your spirit, your beauty and your heart.

Yesterday our team ran the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon… and after experiencing it firsthand, our vote is clear — this event absolutely deserves Major Marathon status.

The scenery, the energy, the culture, the community support, the atmosphere… it is simply unlike any other marathon in the world.

The best. So different from the rest.

Cape Town, you have left a mark on all of our hearts forever ❤️

Wow… what a magical night at the Cape Town Marathon welcome ceremony. 🇿🇦✨

To stand in the same city — and be part of the same marathon weekend — as marathon legend Eliud Kipchoge felt incredibly special and inspiring for our whole team. 🏃‍♂️🌍

The music, drumming, dancers, colour and energy filled the stadium with the true heart and soul of Africa. 🥁❤️ Our team danced, sang, laughed and soaked in every moment together.

These are the moments that remind us running is about so much more than a finish line… it’s connection, culture, inspiration and shared adventure. A night we will all treasure forever.

What a truly magnificent day exploring some of the most breathtaking parts of Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope and the unforgettable Boulders Beach! 🇿🇦✨

From dramatic ocean views and rugged cliffs, to spotting the famous penguins and sharing so many laughs along the way — today was filled with adventure, fun, friendship and moments we will never forget.

And to top it all off, a beautiful lunch together at Harbour House Kalk Bay overlooking the ocean… pure magic. 🌊🐧❤️

A walk through the colourful streets of Bo-Kaap 🇿🇦🌈

One of Cape Town’s most vibrant and historic neighbourhoods, Bo-Kaap is famous for its brightly painted houses, cobbled streets and rich Cape Malay culture. Originally home to freed slaves in the 1700s, the area today stands as a symbol of freedom, identity, community and resilience.
