Fantastic News!!

The Kokoda Track has reopened! Australian High Commissioner Jon Philp attended Parliament yesterday to welcome the announcement by Oro Province Governor Gary Juffa and Central Province Governor Robert Agarobe.

Tour operators will need to follow PNG’s rules and regulations to be issued trekking permits from the Kokoda Track Authority.

The return of trekking will provide an economic boost to communities, after a challenging two years of border closures.
2022 marks 80 years since the Kokoda campaign, which deepened the bonds between our peoples.

Through the Kokoda Initiative, 🇦🇺 is working in partnership with 🇵🇬 to keep the Track open, safe, and well managed.

Fantastic weather for a chopper ride into Kokoda station to start the next Kokoda trek this morning... but not so fantastic weather (HOT & sunny) for that first big climb up to Isurava today 😅. Good luck guys!

Done!!

All of team KoTrek successfully crossed the finish line in the early hours of this morning, smashing out the 100km course in 21hrs & 22mins

13th fastest time overall (out of 500+ teams) & 11th fastest complete team of 4 to finish the event. 👏🏽😀
