Winter is well and truly here and while we rug up, savvy travellers know that June, July and August are actually the best time to explore.
Here are our top 5 destinations to have on your radar this winter season.
🌺 1. Tropical North Queensland, Australia
Cairns, Port Douglas and the Great Barrier Reef are at their absolute best in winter - warm, dry, and blissfully free of the wet season humidity. Snorkel the Reef, drift through the Daintree, and watch the sun sink over the Coral Sea. This is Queensland doing what it does best.
🏜️ 2. The Red Centre, Australia
Uluru in winter is extraordinary. Cool, crisp days, clear skies that go on forever, and a stillness that's hard to find anywhere else on earth. The colours of the Rock at sunrise and sunset in July are something you genuinely cannot unsee.
🌸 3. Japan
Winter into spring in Japan is a pilgrim's dream - fewer crowds, cosy ryokan stays, steaming onsen, and if your timing is right, the first blush of cherry blossom. Tokyo, Kyoto, the Japanese Alps — there is nowhere quite like it.
🌊 4. The Maldives
June to August is peak dry season in the Maldives - calm seas, brilliant visibility for snorkelling and diving, and those overwater bungalow sunsets that look almost too perfect to be real. The bucket list destination, in its best season.
🏝️ 5. Bali, Indonesia
Bali's dry season runs from May to September, making Australian winter the sweet spot for visiting. Cooler temperatures, lush terraced rice fields still glowing from the wet season, and that unique Balinese magic that keeps people coming back.
Winter doesn't have to mean staying home. It might just mean going somewhere extraordinary instead.
Which one is calling your name? Drop it in the comments - we'd love to help you get there.
