Our 8-week Coral Coast adventure has come to an end. We had the best time snorkelling, fishing and losing track of the days. We made amazing friends and caught up with people we met on the road previously. But our 12-month stint is almost coming to an end, so it was definitely time to put some kilometres on the clock.
Let me tell you, though, it has not all gone exactly to plan. We left Exmouth and headed straight for Woomeral Station. This place had rave reviews, however, it is the low season, which I definitely did not think about. The riverbed was a giant sandpit, the bar and live music were closed, and some potato head decided to park in our site at 8:30 pm. This is not a free camp, so taking our paid site was just rude! Then we continued down the coast to a low-cost camp that was nothing but seaweed and 50km winds. It was late and we were all sick of driving, so it would do.
I then navigated us through the centre of Perth City (not ideal) and one of us got lost four times!! Let's just say it got tense. Navigating through a major city you don't know, dragging a shipping container behind you, is not fun. Va**um would have been really helpful at this point, especially when we realised we were not going to fit through a tunnel and had to make a snap decision to bail from the lights and get rerouted again. By this point, we were all over the place and thought it couldn't get any worse. Until I realised that the caravan park I booked was actually an hour south of Perth. So our already 6-hour day just turned into a 7-hour day.
But we made it in one piece, and one day we will look back and laugh, I'm sure. But this is caravanning, not everyday works out so well. You have to take the good with bad. Many beers are needed tonight!
For reference, I'm pretty sure we saw the bridge in the video a couple of times🤣🤣
