He got his own.
The lad has gone out and got himself an adventure vehicle of his own. We are so stoked for the lad.
And of course he only kept it stock for about a week.
So with a big thanks to Tony and his team at Tyrepower Townsville for sorting his rig out with of course some Toyo Tyres Australia AT3's wrapped around some beautiful KMC Wheels Australia and lifting it with Tough Dog Suspension
He is now ready for adventures of his own and to join us when we get out there to enjoy this amazing country we have.
Stay tuned as we bet he will have more mods to go. What do you reckon he has for it next?

Fish, Chocolate, Creek swims and all the foods!
Easter Adventures around Mission Beach
We had a blast. A couple of visits to Alligator's Nest for a swim, and ate our fill of chocolate at Charley's Chocolate getting to see how its all made on the sweet tour.
Lunch at the El Arish Tavern, before catching all the Barra at Barra DownUnder and beautiful dinners at Charlie's Beach House.
How'd you spend your Easter?
Happy adventures and hope to see you out there.

The RoK Reinvented

The RoK has just gone through a serious transformation, and we couldn’t be happier with the result. What started as a tub weighed down by a tired tonneau cover and faded chrome sports bar has now evolved into a rig that feels brand new, bigger, and ready for the next chapter of our adventures.
On our trip through Southeast Queensland, we had reached out and organised with RSi SmartCap Australia to fit a EVO d (Defender) canopy to the RoK. Built from automotive stainless steel, it’s engineered for strength and reliability — solid rear and side doors, compression locks, filtered air pressure vent, integrated brake light, and roof rails designed to carry serious weight. With a dynamic roof capacity of 150kg and static capacity of 350kg, this canopy is as tough as it looks, yet only weighs 75kg.
To top it off, we added a matching Yakima Racks AU/NZ LockNLoad Platform rack, perfectly aligned with the existing rack on the Amarok’s cab. The double platforms give us seamless load space across the whole vehicle, unlocking new potential for gear hauling while the EVO d keeps batteries, fridges, swags — you name it — secure and locked away.
This upgrade wasn’t just about replacing a worn‑out cover. It’s about building a platform for the future. With the canopy and rack combo, we’ve gained secure storage, expanded roof capacity, and the perfect base for a new 12v setup that will power our adventures wherever that takes us.
Massive thanks to SmartCap Australia for supply and install, and to Racks AU/NZ for the rack system. Your gear has given the Amarok a new lease on life and set us up for bigger, better journeys ahead. This is more than an upgrade — it’s the start of the next adventure.

Queensland in Full Throttle!
We kicked things off in Surfers Paradise, where the Gold Coast skyline buzzes with energy and golden beaches stretched forever. Cavill Avenue pulsed with holiday freedom, surfboards lined the sand, and the vibe was pure fun.
Fuel came first — at Matsuzaka Teppanyaki Chevron where chefs turned dinner into theatre. Wagyu sizzling, prawns flying, knives flashing, lanterns glowing. Laughter echoed louder than the clink of chopsticks, and the food was as much a show as a meal. Surfers gave us both the buzz and the feast.
With stomachs full and spirits high, we rolled straight into chrome and rivalry at the Brisbane Motor Museum Here, the eternal Aussie showdown — Ford vs Holden — gleamed under the lights. Monaros, Toranas, Falcons, and GTs lined up like gladiators, polished to perfection, daring us to pick a side. “Are you red or are you blue?” the exhibit asked, and we grinned, knowing the rivalry is half the fun.
The road then pulled us north to Yandina, where The Ginger Factory wrapped us in whimsy. Jack and Jaren climbed aboard the Overboard Boat Ride, sailing past puppets and playful gingerbread scenes. Moreton the Ginger Train chugged through lush gardens, while rainbow umbrellas overhead turned pathways into kaleidoscopes. Between ginger tastings, bee shows, and gelato at Gingerlatis, it was part fairytale, part flavour fest.
Right across the road, Nutworks and the Chocolate Factory kept the fun rolling. Macadamias in every form — roasted, chocolate-coated, chilli-salted — filled the shelves, while cheeky cutouts proved we were just as nutty as the displays. It was laughter, local flavour, and the perfect encore to ginger.
And then came the adrenaline at Dreamworld Australia threw us into chaos with the Steel Taipan, blasting forward, backwards, and upside down at fang-fast speeds. The Motocoaster strapped us onto life-size racing bikes, fists raised in mock battle, riding the rush with nothing but speed and smiles. It was thrill, chaos, and pure fun — the kind of rides that leave your stomach behind but your grin firmly in place

🌅 1770 in 17 Hours: A Sunset, a Round Boat, and a Rueben Toasty
Rolled into the Town of 1770 just in time for golden hour — and what better way to soak it in than hiring one of those iconic round boats from 1770 Holiday Boat Hire Four peeps in matching shirts, one orange round boat, and a sunset that didn’t disappoint. 🍍🛥️

After a few laughs and lazy loops on the water, we made away back to shore and off to the cool cabin at Captain Cook Holiday Village for some awesome fish and chips dinner and a few beverages.

In the morning we swung by Chinaman Beach for a quick look — beautiful, quiet, and worth the detour. From there, straight to La Caravana - Cafe & Catering in Agnes Water for a Rueben breakfast toasty that was absolutely sensational.
Fuelled up and back on the road to Brisbane, but 1770 left its mark — short stay, big vibes, Needs to be done again.

🌴 9 Years, 1 Island, Endless Memories 🌊
Nine years of marriage, and still paddling in sync 💛 For our anniversary, Karen and I traded routine for reef and headed across to Magnetic Island — a place that feels like it was made for moments like these.
We kicked off with the Magnetic Island Sea Kayaks tour, gliding over turquoise waters with sea turtles popping up to say hello. The coastline was pure magic — rugged boulders, secret beaches, and that warm tropical breeze that makes you forget the world for a while.
Later, we cleaned up and headed out for dinner and drinks. The food hit the spot, the cocktails were dangerously good, and the sunset looked like it was ripped straight from a postcard. We even managed a few photos where we’re both looking in the same direction — a true anniversary miracle.
Here’s to nine years of chaos, laughter, and always finding the adventure. Swipe through for shots of us doing our best “adventure couple” impression. Salt in our hair, smiles on our faces, and a few blurry ones thanks to the endless adult beverages.

Our adventure out to Julia creek had a little bit of w*rk attached to it, but we turned it into a mini getaway.
Pushing out through Charters Towers and onto Julia Creek arriving with plenty of time to set-up and wait out to watch the Town Vs Country footy match—what a showdown! 🏉
Getting our heads down late, we woke to another beautiful day, had a clean up and some breakfast before making our way back to Townsville via the Kennedy Development Rd and Gregory Development Rd.
Stopped at Porcupine Gorge which had zero porcupines in it before pushing onto our overnight stay at Three Rivers Hotel - Awesome pub and great pub feed.
Heading home we pulled into those tiny "stopping bays" and noticed a cracked CV boot, but not to worry had new shafts at the door in no time - shout out to Coolum Motors / CRD Tech for sending them up 🤙💪
