An indifferent weekend with the sharks giving us plenty of pain, but still managed good inshore catches of mackerel, queenfish, GT's, nannygai and bits.
Weather was better than expected and the dawns expceptional.
Life's tough in paradise 🌴🎣

Still some fantastic grey or broad barred mackerel around - if the weather allows.
These, along with Spanish, doggie and spotted mackerel, were found wide of Cape Cleveland on Sunday.

Queenfish, trevally and smallish nannygai added variety to the catch...

Another Maggie Island pick-up this morning - just love a Nelly Bay sunrise.
Water a bit yuk in the bay, however Paul from Melbourne managed a feed of mackerel using metal jigs before pinning a nice GT.
Paul rated the trevally as his biggest ever and was happy to give it its freedom before baits drew the attention of nothing more than school sharks... and a none-too-friendly sea snake to finish the morning.

Only a fishing guide would take a day off just to go fishing with a mate - clearly, I need new hobbies!!

Was great to catch up with Pricey and - as seen in my weekly Townsville Bulletin fishing column, he can fish👌

But fish-of-the-week must go to Steve Bone who caught and released a beautiful GT or giant trevally on light spin gear.

Sometimes there are just no words except for, "You can't catch them all."

Gutted for a kid who had the fish of his young lifetime on and pretty much beat... 😞

But for the most part, tackle failures like these are a rare occurrence when reputable brand names are used 🎣
