If you're planning on applying for a Student visa, you must meet the genuine student requirement.

You'll need to explain why you want to study in Australia, and how studying in Australia will benefit you.

Remember to provide evidence supporting your claims in your application, including:
✅ information about your current circumstances (employment, finances, ties to family and community)
✅ your study and immigration history
✅ evidence of the research you have done to support your reasons for wanting to study in Australia.

We are aware of a current phone scam impersonating the “Department of Immigration”.

Scammers may contact you by phone claiming they are working on our behalf and ask for your personal information. They may also leave a voicemail asking you to call them back.

Do not follow any instructions by the scammer to press a number on the phone keypad for further information. Hang up the call.

Our staff will always identify themselves before they ask for any information. You can verify that you are speaking with a departmental officer by asking them to confirm your file number or your application lodgement date.

Remember, our staff will never intimidate you or ask for your:
- Credit card information
- Banking details
- Payment over the phone.

The registration process has opened for the Work and Holiday (Subclass 462) visa for Indian nationals. This is a limited quota, lottery-based system, meaning not everyone who registers will be selected — but it’s still worth applying if you’re eligible.

📅 First come, first served does not apply – selection is random
🧑‍💻 You must meet the education, English, and age requirements (18–30)

If you’re from India, beware of visa and ballot scams for the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES).

If you have been selected in the MATES visa ballot, the official email inviting you to apply for the visa will:

✔ Come from an email address ending in .gov.au
✔ Include your unique Registration ID number
✔ Match the registration details in your ImmiAccount

❌ Do not respond to any emails asking for payments, passwords or bank details.
