The inspiration for Adventure Honey came during a wild 24 hours in the Middle East. Part one of this 24 hour period began with Palestinian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan. Exposed to the extreme poverty in which these people live and the apparent hopelessness of their situation, a seed had been planted in the mind of AdventureHoney founder Chris Ball...
Part two involved paddling the length of the
Dead Sea! In a two man canoe, paddling hyper-saline water and 50+ degree heat, Chris hit the northern tip of the Dead Sea in darkness. Upon pulling the kayak out of the water, night suddenly turned to day as a flare lit the night sky. Ahead were 20 M-16s with 20 angry Israeli commandos - fingers on the trigger, ready to neutralise a suspected terrorist threat! In 24 hours, there’d been two sparks of inspiration:
1. Help people in extreme poverty.
2. Help people discover wild adventures (safely!)
